[Kotaku] Brace yourself, Fallout 4 is a Bug-Apocalypse - Page 13

Preordering a game is literally saying "I don't care what you make, I've already paid for it, whatever it is, now surprise me. If I end up with a pile of dog poop in a DVD case... well, so be it."

There is literally no argument whatsoever in favor of preorders.

The only problem, of course, is when Day-1 purchases are just as bad as preorders. Currently, for the most part, they are effectively the same thing, and are done for the same reasons, by the same people. No one who has already planned to buy day-1 is going to objectively assess the game and decide against the purchase based on the first handful of paid-off professional reviews and a few pages of people posting "FIRST!!!11!!!!!one!" on Steam.'

Someone has to be the first to play it, so that it can get reviews, so that bugs can get noticed and fixed... sure. So what's the answer to this without preorders or day-1 purchases?

The answer isn't push back until Day 2, or Day 7, or whatever, nor is it to say "well someone has to be first so it will be me". The answer is that we already pay people do that, professionally, as a job. Let professional reviewers and game testers do their darn jobs! Stop invalidating them by preordering, or blindly buying day-1 without any real knowledge of the product.

Give companies an incentive to test their games, release info on them, heck even give you demos before you buy by refusing to purchase until they do so!

Furthermore, when a reviewer fails at his job and throws an obviously and inexcusably flawed review (paid off by game company, never played game buy had to post a review by a certain deadline, whatever) hold them freaking accountable and stop feeding them views/clicks/profit!

Do these things, and you will get better games. Make excuses to ignore these simple rules, and game companies will keep milking you for the cattle you are.

Did people have access to this game earlier than others or are they just putting out reviews based on <12hours of gameplay?

I mean come on, the guy above is talking about Metacritic reviews of all things.

Biboran Abdul! Even Stalin wouldn't play in this "game". ****ty graphics, boring gameplay and weak storyline. Very very bad, poorly and weak for 2015.

A nice 0/10 review on there, quality sourcing for reviews.

Can we just lock this thread after 2 months, and then reopen it when the next Elder Scrolls game is released?

I've been seeing this same thread since Oblivion came out. It would save some space on the server and add some perspective to the inane outrage many think they feel over a buggy open world Bethesda game.

Problem with that is I dont trust a single reviewer out there, only the general communitys opinion/backlash which means people have to buy it day one for the rest of us to know what it's like.

Example, the professional reviews are at 89 while the user reviews for this game are at 82 becuase of all the issues. I said this days ago here, that it will get safe reviews no matter what from professional reveiwers because of all the bias from them. They give most big hyped games safe reviews because they want to keep the cash flow going.

So sadly the only way gamers like you and me can know what it's really like is for others to buy it day one.

Only real bug I've experienced so far was when I was walking through the excavation site. The distance textures stay loaded (as in, inflated and blocky, but look fine at a very long distance). So I'd walk over it, and fall through bits of it and land on what I can assume is what is supposed to be showing. Hard to describe but you probably know what I mean. Other than that...my character, despite having not changed his appearance, looks nothing like he did when I created him.

Even his skin tone is off. I chose sun kissed, and he's pale white.

Seems like the pro-reviewer were too kind to bethesda. Lot of customer don't bother giving another rating than 10 so it somewhat inflate the true quality.

I have been playing for around 8-10 hours and I have encountered only one bug so far. It was a graphical error with textures, looks like it had something to do with Volumetric lighting.

Same. I have my hands/pipboy/weapons disappear after I had some sort of acid damage over time effect on me. A simple save/reload fixed the issue.
