I think we should focus on virtual experiments in this particular field.
We need to shift focus back to educating our children, starting with growing a sense of security. Our government needs to stop lining the pockets of rich people with money that belongs in the middle class. No more lobbying (legal bribery via corporate election funding.) No more international slave labor goods trading. Improve the quality of life in the United States and we'll see people investing in themselves again.
Education will follow suit, new energy and computing solutions will emerge more quickly and soon enough we'll be able to do some proper virtual experiments to get around these obvious moral issues.
I'm as excited as the next guy about this, but we can't go doing it before we're absolutely sure what it is that we're doing.
Fix the real problems.
Virtual experiments are only as good as you can model them. And you need real life data in the first place to make those mathematical models. And anyhow, I agree with the scientists. Current research is stagnating due to restrictions on that exact research. That is a very real problem. You can't just look at the now. You have to look at the future too.
