[Neowin] Microsoft rolls out its first big update to Windows 10 - Page 12

Data collection in Windows 10 is an issue but I really wonder why we are not talking about the flawed Windows Update system. Here we are talking about a very serious part of the OS which is not working. I don't want to demote the privacy concerns but here we have a whole broken part of the OS. A very crucial one. How do they expect me to use that OS when it's broken and keeps messing with the drivers. This is really important.

So it seems this update utterly broke Waterfox in youtube. When i try to go to a youtube movie and click 1080p 60fps the whole thing crashes. Tried to use an older version of Waterfox and deleted my profile to make sure it was not some addon being annoying.

Update is working with all 3 systems in my sig flawlessly, it is also running well on my Surface 3 too after taking out the microsd card in it that caused the install to hang halfway through.

Regarding the win7/8.x keys, can you now upgrade with said key and then re-use it after replacing your motherboard? Or do they still convert it to OEM?

Also, I said this countless times before but I feel the only way they might listen is if people are vocal about it. I refuse to "upgrade" to an OS that forces updates (and drivers) down my throat, sends my activity to M$, etc. So I'm sticking with 8.1 until they fix those things.

CPU-Z and HWMonitor got force uninstalled for me being "incompatible" with Windows 10. What? That kind of behavior + forced drivers / no documentation on updates makes me want to go back to Win 7 after trying this OS out since launch.

I don't understand some of these UI changes, especially the massive right click menus on the taskbar, start menu. I understand its a hybrid touch/desktop system but come on. Then everywhere else we have our regular menus. Small thing but it irks me that Microsoft is so inconsistent across the OS.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the barrage of hardware updates Windows pulled down before it installed 10586. There were something like 20 Xeon-related updates with all sorts of hardware signatures (including thermal probe stuff) that had to be installed before 10586 could be installed on my machine.

Sorry but Redmond knows better than you what their drivers can do, so you have to just take it like an abused person.

They are not worried if your system is working as long as their OS resides on your current system then they shall be pushing you to upgrade to a certified Windows 10 spec machine, so you could enjoy the full success of their latest release.

Dunno what happened with my upgrade but I ran it and it installed fine to 1511 and then I done a Update and it grabbed a few things and installed. Hours later I came back to the machine and I had no connection what so ever.

I tried everything but it was the IPV4 Protocols were gone or missing etc.. So a few hours ago I just thought I try to reinstall and not save anything for a fresh. At least i didn't have to install Win 7 and do all that.
I found a rash of folks had the same problems but there was no real resolve to the IPV4 issue. I had absolutely no internet or Ethernet connection at all.

So anyways I am back up running after a install without saving anything.
