Oh man, I knew the rumors had some truth to it. Very reliable Benchlife, the first leakers of Skylake specifications, have now leaked more details regarding the upcoming Broadwell Extreme processors!!!
10 cores, 20 threads, 140W TDP and a nice 3.5GHz turbo boost incoming. I also have my eye on that i7-6900K. Looks like we get a 2 core jump from existing Broadwell processors
Man, AMD needs to come out swinging with Zen, but not necessarily swing the "more core" bat. A solid 8c/16t cpu would make it into many systems if priced right.
I don't understand why everyone is acting like 10/20 is a new and amazing thing on the 6950X. Yes, the processor will be unlocked, but how far will you really be able to take it without a custom loop? I'm sure that since it is already clocked so low at 3.00 Ghz that it must be either heat monster or just unable to handle the higher frequencies.
And also, for the $1,000 or more they are going to charge for this processor, you could just go out and buy an Intel Xeon 2687w V3 on fleabay for the same price or lower and get 10/20 with the same amount of cache and a higher base frequency.
Hopefully this finally means i can pick up an 8/16 core for under a grand as was rumored for Ivy-E's launch. 600 I'll do at my max, but not dropping a grand on a cpu.

They have added 25% more cores while still staying on the same TDP.
6850K with 6 cores @ 3.8GHz isnt too shabby either. Seems to be the most agressive clocked one. I noticed it have 15MB cache in total which is 2x the 6700K (8MB).
This is great news, was just about to order a 5820K and Asus X99 WS-E mobo, but rather go ahead with a 6700K and Asus Maximus VIII Extreme now, and pick up a 6850K in March/April next year at beginning of the Broadwell - E cycle.
Big question at that time will be buy the Rampage V Extreme Black Edition OR will Asus replace the X99 WS board for BWE?
They did come out with an updated X79 WS board for Ivy - E so it's very possible they will again for the BWE tick.
Jesus, 10 cores. Right when I thought 8 was extreme. The LGA 1151 socket is small, and I can understand how the LGA 2011/3 was able to fit 6,8, whatever, but how will they fit 10 cores onto that small of a socket?

Same here. Went from 9590 to 4790k. Not going to bother 'upgrading' until 8c16t is in the 5820k price range. Likely I won't be upgrade until cannonlake-e, though, and that's honestly fine for me.
