OCN Classic - Page 5

post #41 of 383

The reply notifier is called

.component.newpostnotifier {
    background: *whatever color you want here*;
}
What it looks like standard (Click to show)
.component.newpostnotifier {
    position: fixed;
    bottom: 0;
    right: 50px;
    z-index: 1005;
    background: #3b4758;
    -webkit-border-radius: 5px 5px 0 0;
    -moz-border-radius: 5px 5px 0 0;
    border-radius: 5px 5px 0 0;
    -webkit-box-shadow: 0 0 2px 1px rgba(0,0,0,0.3);
    -moz-box-shadow: 0 0 2px 1px rgba(0,0,0,0.3);
    box-shadow: 0 0 2px 1px rgba(0,0,0,0.3);
    -webkit-transition: bottom ease 400ms;
    -moz-transition: bottom ease 400ms;
    -ms-transition: bottom ease 400ms;
    transition: bottom ease 400ms;
}

My personal color is the same as the one I use in the nav bar:

.component.newpostnotifier {
    background: rgba(70, 86, 107, 0.7)!important;
}

This might be too transparent though.

That line is added in the supplied css. Just remove the " box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0,0,0,0.5);" bit under ".ui-header-fixed".
It is just my personal preference that twocables liked and incorporated.

The theme has been updated and upgraded! Please install the new version of your theme option (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6). The links are below so you don't have to move away from this post:

First, please install the latest version of the 1st JavaScript. I mean this one:
https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/14125-notification-restore-and-high-resolution-navbar-avatar

Option 1 - This is the version seen in the screenshots. This gives you a 100% opaque navbar when scrolling down with Left-Aligned links on the navbar for Private Messages and Subscriptions
https://userstyles.org/styles/121019/perhaps-the-way-it-should-have-been-option-1

Option 2 - This gives you a 74% opaque navbar when scrolling down with Left-Aligned links on the navbar for Private Messages and Subscriptions
https://userstyles.org/styles/121021/perhaps-the-way-it-should-have-been-option-2

Option 3 - The navbar stays at the top when scrolling down. Again, Left-Aligned links on the navbar for Private Messages and Subscriptions.
https://userstyles.org/styles/121022/perhaps-the-way-it-should-have-been-option-3

Option 4 - This gives you a 100% opaque navbar with Right-Aligned links on the navbar (for Private Messages and Subscriptions.
https://userstyles.org/styles/121023/perhaps-the-way-it-should-have-been-option-4

Option 5 - This gives you a 74% opaque navbar with Right-Aligned links on the navbar for Private Messages and Subscriptions.
https://userstyles.org/styles/121025/perhaps-the-way-it-should-have-been-option-5

Option 6 - The navbar stays at the top when scrolling down. Right-Aligned links on the navbar for Private Messages and Subscriptions.
https://userstyles.org/styles/121026/perhaps-the-way-it-should-have-been-option-6

What's new (in no particular order whatsoever):

  • Now all links on the site underline when you hover over them.
  • The Multi button turns bright red when you click it in order to indicate that it's pressed.
  • The text in the post header is now white. The post header is the bar on top of every post. It contains the post date and time, the words "THREAD STARTER" for thread starters, and the post count.
  • The profile button (the avatar) is now the high-resolution version of your avatar! No more blurry avatar button.
  • Thanks to GekzOverlord, I updated the color of the vertical border on the far left of the current Forums selection. Now it's OCN Blue (#46566B). Thanks, GekzOverlord!

Oh wow, I didn't see that before. Thank you, GekzOverlord! It's in the newest version of the theme now.

Doh! doh.gif Okay just ignore my critique, this is great!

It's all good. Earlier today (several hours before I logged in just now), I began worrying that this might happen because I put the JavaScripts underneath the 6 different CSS scripts. Sure enough, it happened. LOL So, it's not your fault! It's mine. I made the change to my OP though, so if it happens again, then I'll have to make yet another change to my OP to further reduce the chances of it happening.

Hmm. If someone can do that and gives me the code and also makes sure I don't screw it up, then it will replace the current install option to get the search onto the navbar.

Updated! Thank you!

It's a shadow. Do you have the theme option with the sticky navbar, or the navbar that stays at the top? After seeing this, I'm beginning to think that the option for having the navbar stay at the top shouldn't have this shadow.

I got rid of that by doing this (it's not a permanent fix but its something that could be taken into consideration)-

Edit: A slight tweak to the search and advanced search

edit 2: here is how I got rid of the line I just replaced the section that I highlighted with this
Code:
box-shadow: 0 0px 0px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5);
}

.fixed-scroll-breakpoint .ui-header-fixed {
    box-shadow: 0 0px 0px rgba(0,0,0,0.5);
}

But it's just a shadow. It's for beauty. I put it there on purpose (once I was given the code).

Thank you! I will ask Jiiks though to see if he can fix the new JavaScript called "OCN Improvements" so that the bubbles don't show up when there's nothing new to notify us about. Until then, I'm going to stick with my two separate JavaScripts and I'll keep the CSS code in the theme options to remove the bubbles when there's nothing new to notify you about.

Yeah, it's a shadow.

Does it look kinda dumb if you have the navbar that stays at the top when you scroll down?

Yeah, I have a lot to learn. I need to learn how to do a changelog as well (I also need to learn to do one, that is, I need to learn to get into the habit). Sigh. That's difficult for me. For now, all I can do is ask you guys to go by the "Last Updated" part of my OP (near top of the OP - hey, that rhymes). So that means if you know that you installed the theme before that "Last Updated" date & time, then you definitely don't have the latest version. So likewise, if you're installing the theme after that "Last Updated" date & time, then you definitely have the latest version - as far as you know. hahahaha With how frequently I am updating this thing right now, you never know. You could be installing when in the middle of plowing through all 6 to update them all. haha

However, I will work on starting a version number system as soon as I possibly can - hopefully within the next 30 minutes, provided I get done with my current reply & work before that. I'm in the middle of improving the theme yet again. Damn. I need a changelog. lol Hey, at least I have a list of features. When that idea hit me, I was very proud of myself. I've never done anything like this at all, and so remember all of the things that we all look for is difficult.

So, I thank you for the version number idea!!

Another update!

What's new:

  • The Rep+ button turns gray after you've given Rep+. It is also always gray on your own posts.
  • All links on the entire site turn red when you hover over them.
  • No link or button selection indication except where needed. This makes clicking links much cleaner looking, especially on darker backgrounds like the OCN Blue color.
  • New name! (for now)
  • Version numbering

The entire list of features (including the new items):

(The items in bold are the newest items as added during the past 24 hours)

  • Classic "OCN Blue" colors, just like we used to have
  • Classic Overclock.net logo is back (the same one that we used to have, NOT A REMAKE)
  • Classic blue flame favicon is back (the same one that we used to have, NOT A REMAKE)
  • Low-resolution navbar avatar (the profile button) replaced with the high-resolution version
  • Links for Private Messages and Subscriptions are now on the navbar instead of in the profile menu - it feels like what we used to have
  • Red notification bubble for Private Messages only shows if there's 1 or more new private messages
  • Red notification bubble for Subscriptions only shows if there's 1 or more unread subscription item
  • The red notification bubbles stand out nicely on this OCN Blue color, making for a very good attention-grabber when you have new unread items.
  • Avatar button's notification bubble has been removed
  • All the buttons on the site are OCN Blue instead of that new vivid blue that OCN is using now
  • The Multi button turns bright red when you click it in order to indicate that it's pressed
  • The Rep+ button turns gray after you've given Rep+. It is also always gray on your own posts.
  • All links on the entire site underline when you hover over them
  • All links on the entire site turn red when you hover over them, except for the links on the Forums menu, Search menu, and Profile menu.
  • No link or button selection indication except where needed. This makes clicking links much cleaner looking, especially on darker backgrounds like the OCN Blue color.
  • The Profile Menu is all OCN Blue because it's a unique menu
  • The top of the Forums menu is OCN Blue. The whole menu was once OCN Blue, but it was too dark and overpowering.
  • The text in the post header is white (date, time, "Thread Starter" and post number). This means it's easier to read due to the superior contrast.
  • Theme option for a 100% opaque navbar when scrolling down
  • Theme option for a 74% opaque navbar when scrolling down
  • Theme option for a navbar that stays at the top
  • Theme option for Right-Aligned links for Private Messages and Subscriptions for all 3 navbar options above.
  • Optional "miscellaneous" type of install for putting the search onto the navbar. It's ok-looking, but it's not great.

Should I remove the navbar's shadow for the theme option that keeps the navbar at the top when scrolling down?

Well...this is moving fast. Especially the +rep adjustments made. I'd love to kiss you since you already have so many reps, but the missus has already had enough of Yen and Triss tongue.gif

Omg, I just said the same thing to Jiiks!

You're welcome. Seriously, if it were socially acceptable to kiss another man without it meaning anything weird... heh What we are creating here is absolutely amazing. I don't mean to take anything away from agawthrop, but you've been awesome. I even went to the install page for OCN Dark to see if I could donate some money.

Yet another update: I changed the green notification bubble to a specific type of red:

https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/14125-notification-restore-and-high-resolution-navbar-avatar

I never noticed because I'm partly red/green colorblind. I just assumed that it was red!

This doesn't justify changing the version number of the theme.

I also made another improvement to my OP.

Ok, this needs a new post. I apologize for the consecutive post here.

Can we do this in this theme?

http://www.overclock.net/t/1581658/make-the-thread-title-clickable-in-overclock-net-forums-overclock-net-forum-forum-name-thread-title#post_24639537

Quote:
So, at the top of the page is the navigation. For example, right now I just came from here:

Overclock.netForumsOverclock.net ForumOverclock.net Related News and Information › A New Face for Overclock.net

As you can see, everything is linked except for the thread title. Now, there are times where it would be extremely convenient if it were a clickable link to the thread's 1st page. We had that on vBulletin, so why was it taken away when we got Huddler? It needs to look like this instead:

Overclock.netForumsOverclock.net ForumOverclock.net Related News and InformationA New Face for Overclock.net

Please do this.

If so, then what would the code have to be?

What would the code for the pagination button colors? I mean, hover on the other pages that you're not on, the non hover color, and also the color of the current page. Also, the hover and non hover colors for the Next and Previous buttons.

Also, ever since they fixed the multi button, it's now doing this:

When I click the button, the text "Multi" stays underlined and it gets a hover color of black with no underline on hover. This is with all of our CSS and JavaScript completely disabled.

If I click somewhere else, the underlining goes away but it's still showing a hover color of black with no text underlining.

If I click it again, it returns back to the normal color, but with a text underline on hover.

If I click somewhere else, the text underlining on hover goes away.

The color of the buttons for the little OCN internal popups is that new blue. What would be the code to change those? I mean, like when you report a post, discard a draft, give Rep, saving settings), etc. etc. etc.

The colors are wrong now of the headers for things like "Recent Images In This Thread", "Topics Discussed", "Recent Reviews", "Currently Viewing". Now they're the same color as inside our profiles (Members You Follow and Members Following You).

So yeah, what would be the code for all this? :/

The following script changes the last breadcrum into a link:
Code:
    var last = $("#bc .last");
    var curUrl = window.location.pathname;
    $("<a/>", { href: curUrl, text: last.html() }).insertBefore(last);
    last.remove();

I'll look at the other stuff later.
