OCN Classic - Page 9

Now what I'd like to do is update this one-click log-in so that logging in just reloads the page when you log in. That way, if you have your browser saving your session when you close it, you can log out of like say your Subscriptions page, close the browser, open it back up, log in and then still be looking at your Subscriptions page. Right now, it's logging you in and then bringing you to http://www.overclock.net. I don't like this because that's not what we had before.

Temporary solution: just reload the page immediately after clicking the login button. On my end, I have about 2.5 seconds to reload before the page goes away that I'm trying to log into. I don't know about you, but that gives me far more than enough time to reload the page right after clicking the login button. I think I could live with it like this if I had to!

Would any of you want your search moved over like this?

This is scrolled down a little, just to show the smaller navbar you get when scrolled down.

I'm confused because when the search bar is put onto the navbar, it just sits there and doesn't move. So, what are you asking?

Oh crap, I just realized something. With the search bar on the navbar, it would cover up the "P" and "S" on the links for Private Messages and Subscriptions. I'd have to carefully provide options to avoid that problem.

It's not new; it's just something that we've never had to use before. It has pathetically never saved anything. It has been like this since November 9th, 2011 when this platform went live on OCN to replace vBulletin. Can you believe it? lol Well, it was like that during the beta testing period too, but here we are 4 years later and it still doesn't work.

Anyway, I'm VERY pleased to be able to share this customization with you. It might be improved even further in the coming day or two or three here because I asked Jiiks (who wrote the code) to see if the page you are logging in on could simply be reloaded instead of having the code record (or "memorize") the URL that's in your address bar the moment you log out. That way, it would behave exactly as before. I mean, presently, this code makes logging in bring you back to where you where the last time you logged out, regardless of what page you are on when you're logging in. I would much prefer a simple page reload when logging in. If it's not doing that for you, then you have the previous version already. lol I prefer the previous version though because then I can just log in, right-click and choose Reload.

It's probably my fault though because I used words like, "Remember". It didn't occur to me at the time I asked if this could be done that what I was really asking for was a page reload at the moment we log in.

OCN Classic v1.3.2 is now live!

www.overclock.net/t/1581409/ocn-classic-theme-now-with-one-click-log-in-and-more

This is a HUGE update! Please make sure you install "OCN Classic Theme Completer" (current version 1.0) before you start using OCN Classic. This is critical!

Important: After installing the theme completer, you must go into Greasemonkey or Tampermonkey (whichever one you have) and delete or disable any PREVIOUS SCRIPT that you were using for OCN Classic. Previous scripts can include "Favicon" and "Notification Restore" and even the Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey script called "OCN Classic". These must be deleted and or disabled before using this theme (and you must also have OCN Classic Theme Completer installed and enabled).

If you don't have OCN Classic Theme Completer installed and enabled, then you will not see the following:

  • One-Click Log-In
  • Private Messages and Subscriptions on the navbar
  • You will not see "Private Messages" become "New Message" with 1 new message and "New Messages" with 2 or more new messages
  • "Edit Signature" on the Profile Menu
  • High-resolution avatar on the navbar (your profile button)
  • The correct capitalization of your OCN name on the profile menu (so, if I didn't install it, then I wouldn't see "twocables" become "TwoCables")
  • "Log Out" instead of "Logout" on the Profile Menu
  • The classic blue flame Favicon
  • The last breadcrumb at the top of every page would not be linked (yes, this can be a useful feature)

Thank you.

Screenshots (Click to show)

I only provided links because the screenshots are big and pretty and I don't want them to be resized on you. Once the images are loaded into your browser, please click them to zoom in to their full-sized version.

A couple of notes on these screenshots:
  • The collapse/expand buttons you see on the main page are the correct size now thanks to OCN's latest updates. I might make new screenshots later just to show them.
  • As you'll see below, there are 6 different options of this theme. For now, I am just showing you "Option 1".

Features (Click to show)

On the Navbar:

  • The search menu button is next to RIGBUILDER and the menu points to the right now (in order to come out underneath the empty space on the navbar).
  • Links for Private Messages and Subscriptions are on the navbar instead of in the profile menu.
  • The text "Private Messages" becomes "New Message" with 1 new private message, and "New Messages" with 2 or more private messages.
  • Red notification bubble for Private Messages - only shows if there's 1 or more new private message - great attention-grabber when you need it.
  • Red notification bubble for Subscriptions - only shows if there's 1 or more unread subscription item - great attention-grabber when you need it.
  • Avatar button's notification bubble has been removed because it's unnecessary in this theme.
  • Disabled the silly "You Are Here" indication on the main navbar buttons. Now when you are in FORUMS or NEWS or GAMING or REVIEWS, that section's button doesn't light up to tell you where you are. This provides an even cleaner appearance.
  • Classic Overclock.net logo (sourced from an internet archive).
  • High-resolution avatar button on the navbar to replace the low-resolution version.
  • The top of the Forums menu is OCN Blue. The whole menu was OCN Blue during testing, but it was too dark and overpowering and heavy-looking.
  • Now only the top of the Profile Menu is OCN Blue just like the top of the Forums menu. So, the rest of the menu is color #3B3B3B just like the Forums menu.
  • Your OCN username on the Profile Menu now has the correct capitalization. For example: "twocables" > "TwoCables".
  • "Edit Signature" added to the Profile Menu.
  • On the Profile Menu, "Logout" has been changed to "Log Out".
  • The link text "Private Messages" on the navbar becomes "New Message" with 1 new message, and "New Messages" with 2 or more messages.

Buttons

  • All of the buttons on the site are OCN Blue (#46566B or RGB 70, 86, 107) instead of the new blue that OCN is using now.
  • I finally decided to have a hover color for all the buttons (that is, ALL buttons on the entire site. Finally!)
  • The Multi button turns bright red when you click it in order to indicate that it's enabled.
  • After the Multi button has been enabled, it also gets a black border when you hover your mouse over it.
  • The Rep+ button turns gray after you've given Rep+. It is also always gray on your own posts because you can't Rep+ yourself.
  • The Submit button on the "Edit Thread" page is now the correct size.
  • All pagination buttons are the correct color.
  • All Pagination buttons have a hover color.
  • Smaller-sized Rep+, Multi, Quote and Reply buttons with perfectly-centered button labels.
  • Smaller-sized View Full Post buttons on a member's All Posts page, including your own.
  • The "Submit" button on the "Edit Thread" page is the correct size.
  • The button text is perfectly centered on all buttons on the entire site.
  • The Multi button's text is no longer too far to the right.
  • Slightly smaller Edit and Flag buttons to better match the smaller Rep+, Multi, Quote and Reply buttons.

Sitewide

  • One-Click Log-In!
  • One-Click Log-In records the last URL that your browser loaded before you logged out and brings you back to that URL the next time you log in.
  • One-Click Log-In has the classic login button that we all know and love.
  • Classic "OCN Blue" colors.
  • Classic blue flame favicon (sourced from an internet archive).
  • No unnecessary selection indication borders on links or buttons except where needed. This makes for a much cleaner look.
  • No sticky link text underlining problem (with a couple of exceptions on a couple of buttons as noted).
  • The last breadcrumb at the top of a thread page is now linked. This can be useful if the last breadcrumb is the thread title because it would be linked to the thread's first page.
  • All header bars are "OCN Blue". For example: in your profile, the headers bars for "Members You Follow" and "Members Following You".

Options

  • Stand-alone One-Click Log-In (plain log-in button only for now)
  • Theme option for a 100% opaque navbar when scrolling down.
  • Theme option for a 74% opaque navbar when scrolling down.
  • Theme option for a navbar that stays at the top.
  • Theme option for Right-Aligned links for Private Messages and Subscriptions for all 3 navbar options above.
  • Optional "miscellaneous" type of install for putting the search onto the navbar. It's ok-looking, but it's not great.

Changelog (starting at v1.2) (Click to show)

  • Version 1.3.2

    • Moved the search button (and its menu) next to RIGBUILDER. The menu also now points to the right instead of the to the left. This makes it sit underneath the empty space on the navbar when it's open.
    • One-Click Log-In added.
    • One-Click Log-In records the last URL that your browser loaded before you logged out and logs you into that URL the next time you log in, regardless of the URL that's in your address bar when you logged out or logged in.
    • Added the classic login button to the One-Click Log-In.
    • On the One-Click Log-In, "Forgot password?" and "Remember me" changed to "Forgot Password?" and "Remember Me".
    • Moved "Forgot Password" and "Remember Me" down slightly.
    • On the One-Click Log-In, increased the width of the Username and Password fields from 110px each to 125px (the maximum before the button drops down to the next line).
    • Repositioned "Remember Me" and its checkbox after the resizing.
    • Changed all One-Click Log-In font sizes to 8pt.
    • Added a stand-alone One-Click Log-In. It currently only has a plain log-in button - but it works.
    • Classic Favicon now stays after logging out. No more new black favicon when you log out.
    • Made the coloring of the Profile Menu match the Forums menu. So now only the top of the Profile Menu is OCN Blue while the rest is color #3B3B3B. This is the way that I wanted it all along and I finally figured it out!
    • On the Profile Menu, your OCN name now has the proper capitalization. It used to be all lowercase (that's the OCN default right now). For example: "twocables" > "TwoCables".
    • Added "Edit Signature" to the Profile Menu.
    • On the Profile Menu, changed "Logout" to "Log Out".
    • Changed the font of the Notification Bubbles to Verdana for improved readability.
    • Moved the following items on the navbar a little further away from the Profile Menu's button:
      • Private Messages
      • Subscriptions
      • Both Notification Bubbles (this means that the far-right side of these bubbles is no longer being covered up by the Profile Menu's button).
    • Carefully and perfectly aligned the left side of the Profile Menu with the left side of the "P" and "S" in the words "Private" and "Subscriptions".
    • Now when you have 1 new private messages, "Private Messages" becomes "New Message".
    • Now when you have 2 or more private messages, you will see "New Messages".
    • The "Edit Thread" page's Cancel button now has a hover color.
    • On the "Edit Thread" page, tabbing out of the editor to the PREVIEW and SUBMIT buttons now underlines the text "PREVIEW" or "SUBMIT", depending on which button you tabbed onto. This tells you which button you're currently focused on! The underlining is sticky though. A proper dotted white line may come in a future release. (Sorry, the tab order currently does not include the Cancel button)
    • Matched the font size of the PREVIEW and CANCEL buttons with the font size of the SUBMIT or SEND buttons. Previously, CANCEL and PREVIEW were 11pt and SUBMIT/SEND were 12pt. Now they're all 12pt.
    • All the buttons on the entire site now have perfectly-centered text. See the bottom of this page for a known bug with this feature.
    • Special attention was paid to the text of the Multi button. It was too far to the right and now it's not! :)
    • Resized the Edit and Flag buttons.
    • Resized View Full Posts button slightly.
    • Resized Rep+, Multi, Quote and Reply buttons.
    • Removed unnecessary dotted white focus border around the Rep+ button when you click it (you would have seen it before clicking "Add to Reputation").
    • Added hover color to the in-line editor's PREVIEW button.
    • New name for the JavaScript installation: "OCN Classic Theme Completer"

  • Version 1.3.1

    • New version numbering system in order to significantly reduce the chances of reaching "v2.0" before it's appropriate.
    • Added a hover color to all buttons (except for the Cancel button on the "Edit Thread" page - that's coming)
    • Changed button sizes for many buttons.
    • Center-aligned the button label text on several buttons.
    • Fixed the color on the last few buttons that were still the new blue color
    • Updated the coloring of the pagination buttons
    • Removed the blue 1-pixel border that was on many of this theme's buttons (it was OCN's new blue color)
    • Added a 1-pixel black border (on mouse hover) around the Multi button when it's turned on.
    • Performed other improvements and perfections that are minor and difficult to describe.
    • New "comment" lines in the CSS and JavaScript code to help you navigate the code better.
    • Cleaned up the code's appearance.
    • Every single header throughout the site now has the correct color. For example, "Members You Follow" and "Members Following You" in your profile. Those are headers.

  • Version 1.3

    • Name change from "OCN New Classic" to "OCN Classic"
    • Now all of the buttons on the site are the correct color. (this later turned out to be wrong)
    • Fixed the black hover color on a pressed Multi button.
    • The Submit button on the "Edit Thread" page is now the correct size.

  • Version 1.2

    • Fixed sticky underlining problem for the entire site
    • Linked the thread title at the top of a thread page (the last breadcrumb). It links to the first page in the thread.
    • Pagination buttons now have the correct colors
