You probably aren't going to see anything new from Asus until Q1 or Q2 2017 though, considering they are just getting around to releasing the PG348Q.

True, but the panel manufacturers haven't even talked about panels with anything like those spec's (that I've heard about)... and that preceeds Asus or Acer or whoever announcing by several months..

Every time I get a notification of a new post, I'm praying it is a link to pre-order in the US...and so far, every time it is utterly disappointing, lol!

Does anyone now if it will have turbo button for overclocking with guarantee 100Hz?

I could buy 2x Dell U3415W for almost the same price as the PG348Q, and there is the MX34 coming from Asus which is rumoured to be at a very competitive price, using the same panel as the PG348Q but obviously no G-sync.

Obviously the 3440 x 1400 resolution will tax my GPU's more than my current 1920 x 1200 monitors.

The PG348Q is a beautiful looking monitor IMO, but is it really worth spending £2K on two, or forgetting g-sync and spending £1.1K on two U3415W's? that's almost 1K just for g-sync...

OK its unlikely the 144hz 3440 x 1440 panels will be in any products in 2016, but why spend 2K to use for one year then possibly regret it later?

My main priority is work, then gaming, then movies when choosing a monitor, and with the launch of true Ultra HD- Blu ray media and players this year, is it wise to be buying a 1440p monitor if you use your system for all purposes like I do?

When the media starts to gain popularity, you will be watching all that glorious 4K content downscaled! Ultra wide 4K monitors are in the works, so maybe best to wait...

Sure there's only about 5 titles in UHD-blu ray for pre-order at the moment, but there are hundreds planed by this time next year so a true 4k ultra wide sounds like a much more future proof option...

But still tempted! :-P

When we get 3440x1440p 144hz, why spend the money on it, 4K 21.9 will come few months after that

When I was having a conversation with ASUS, it seems you enable overclocking and then use the Turbo button to go to 100hz

So in the end it will have same lottery with 100Hz as X34, as it seems it confirms that 100Hz is not guaranteed frown.gif. I am thinking about buying widescreen as AUO monitos keep failing me. But this 100Hz lottery is an issue for me. I know some people get 90-95Hz on those screens.

Well, then I guess if ASUS won't guarantee it I will just purchase cheaper one.

Ah your okay in that area then and can see for yourself its a bigger decision!. I am on just a normal 3440 x 1440 so the jump is not quiet as big but its 60hz and for that I do get a lot of tearing unless I cap the fps to 58 and having used a X34 recently G-Sync is one of those things you don't see the benefit as much as when you go back to a normal panel, then you do wish it had G-Sync frown.gif

To be honest in this case the reason for the pre-order cancel was I am not sure if I want to keep my current Trio of Titan X's. If I keep them I will likely pick this panel up again, If I get rid of them for pascal, then I can most likely wait for DP 1.3 monitors. In a sense this panel is coming out at a slightly odd time, but does look great and knowing me I will give in for the Witcher 3 expansion biggrin.gif

Yeah, I returned my X34 and I am back on my XB280HK, but 4k is a bit too much for the witcher 3 on my triple 980s. The x34 was buttery smooth though.

You returned it to get the new Asus one or to wait for another option?

I returned it to play the 100hz lottery with ASUS. Mine only ran 95hz. The OSD buttons drove me insane as well. Though I do like the stand on the X34 much better than the ASUS, I am going to use it with a monitor arm.
