At no point did I say this is old tech, I am refering to DP 1.2 that’s about to be replaced with DP 1.3.

If your going to criticise someone’s post, at least have a point? All I see is you stating the obvious :-)

I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything opposite in my posts from the obvious things you just listed, are you sure you didn't misread, or misunderstand my posts, or reading someone else's post? I referred only to Acer and Asus pushing the limits of DP 1.2, and those overclocks causing problems, so better to wait for DP 1.3. IMO!

Might want to wait for DP 1.4, as DP 1.3 bandwidth is awful

I'm calling it a night :-) Can't sit on this workstation any longer. Finished all my projects for today!

We are all here because we are passionate about computing, and we will all in the end do what's best for our own needs smile.gif

I don't think anyone that pre-orders the PG348Q or owns the Acer X34 should think badly on their decision, these monitors are the cream of the crop ATM for all purpose use. IMO

And those that are hesitant because of the problems so far with the X34, and the limitations of DP 1.2 being part of the cause of that problem, or want to wait for DP 1.3 GPUs and Monitors , for the hope of better ( more stable) refresh rates and HDR in games and UHD movies, its also their decision :-)

Like a few people here I am completely torn between what I would like sitting on my desk right now, and the logical side, that I will be getting new GPU's within the next year, so why not take full advantage of DP 1.3 when its available, and stability and extra features it will bring, rather than maybe, maybe not get 100hz at 3440 x 1440 on DP 1.2.

Nighty Nite All :-)

I don't have any PG348Q... yet. (and not old enough to dare creating that kind of thread).

You need to own it first. Forum rules. Then again, the mods have been sleepy.

You're seriously going to say that it's just your opinion that over 100hz is a waste, then turn around and tell me to research it? Your trolling is weak today. You need to research clearly as over 100hz is not a waste. What most people say means nothing. Go to the steam forums. Over there you can find a thousand people saying 1080p 30 fps is more than enough. Is that true? No it isn't.

Research. Again, link me to one academic journal, published by a doctor, that claims we cannot see more than 100 fps. You are incredibly annoying and for whatever reason I'm letting you suck me back into the sub atomic iq vortex.

I will own it, I have pre ordered it

Not saying over 100hz is a waste, I am saying it is less noticeable once you get over 100hz

Sorry, let me ask my professor, I will ask for a 100 page review on the situation, I will come back in a few weeks, I am sure he has time, as he has no other research pages to write which are more important than these comments

I don't care about what you own. I'm telling you the rules before you go and sabotage another owners thread.

That's your opinion, stop pushing it as a fact. Once you see 240hz+, you'll eat your words. But you made it clear you're new to this whole scene.

I seriously doubt Derek Zoolander has the time with the sequel to his film coming out next week.

Now, I expect you cannot really notice any difference between 144hz and 200hz, if you look online, many people say 120hz to 144hz is not really noticeable, as it is reaching a point where it cannot become any smoother and more fluid during gaming.

Well I am studying for a degree, so I could ask for a 100 page research paper, if you want to pay for it

I think you've sufficiently exposed yourself at this point.
