I might not get my EK Predator 360mm on Saturday now, might have to wait until Monday or Tuesday, so I cannot use my monitor until then frown.gif

God speed to you man!

Fingers crossed we can all order within a couple of weeks though. smile.gif

Let us know if you see any scanlines, preferably in the pendulum demo if you could.

Omg this monitor is awesome, 100hz no problem, no dead/stuck pixels, no coil whine. Unlike the x34 the Asus works like a charm smile.gif

Now THAT is good news! Had three X34, all were perfectly fine samples (low BLB, 100Hz no problem, minimal scanlines not irritating me) except for that incredibly annoying coil whine which meant I could hardly browse a page without headset on... Fingers crossed now for my PG348Q arriving tomorrow!

I think some marketing scrub decided 1080 was easier to sell since they could slap HD on the name and sell it to "gamers" who bought the concept hook line and sinker with no real knowledge that 1080 sucked. 1080 wasn't even acceptable 10 or 15 years ago when we played on 1600x1200 UXGA CRTs. Why do people settle for it now?!?!

I dont play games on my 1080p TV because they look absolutely terrible and its 10-15 feet away vs the 2 feet between my face and my monitor... I can't imagine 1080 in that scenario.. redface.gif

/rant off.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's unacceptable (not yet anyway, it'll surely be so in a few years) but after gaming for over a year on 1440p, there's no way I'm going back to anything less.

Seeing here and elsewhere that overseas people are starting to get theirs. Has there been any official release date/price for the states? I look every day and I still can't find anything definitive ...

Thanks

One thing that was better on the X34 is the speakers tho, the speakers on the pg248q are pure rubbish. Not that the x34 speakers was awesome but you could atleast use them for watching a tv show or such, on this one you will absolutly need external ones for when you not use a headset.

The 1440p version @ 100, I've been told, will make normal windows look better. Yes I play games, but I also edit photos and cut video together of games. I want something that does it all well. I've considered the lower price monitors without gsync and have gone back and forth many times on it.

However, I use a monitor 8+ hours a day, 5 or 6 days a week. My last monitor a Dell 24 IPS ($800 when I bought it), I've had for a decade. So from the cost per hour of use perspective, the additional cost is irrelevant. What is $300 or $400 more if it is truly better over the course of its lifetime?

Well the reason why I recommend him to buy another monitor is cause he wont use those 100hz in most modern games on high settings, he would be far better off buying a none overclocked 34" 21:9 monitor if he really wants the 34" size. Now he wont be able to push this monitor until the release of Pascal, and if he is unlucky that can take a far bit into 2k17.
So basically IMO his monitor is just dead meat for more than a year.

But yeah if you just going to have a GTX 970, a 1080p 144hz is a far better choice.
