[TechpowerUP] Club 3D Intros DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 Active Adapters with 4K-60 Hz Support - Page 17

Interesting, thank you. It's notable that 1080p native comes through the UEFI BIOS screen, suggesting that it isn't a signal chain issue per se between the display silicon, adapter, and the screen, but specifically a Windows driver issue and how it interacts with the GPU & active adapter firmware, as you suggest above. I should boot to Linux to see what happens there.

Funny, I don't get anything on the BIOS (1080p) or Windows loading screen, but 1080p works fine through the adapter in Windows.

Just got my Samsung JU6500 40" 4k with this adapter hooked up and following the generally accepted instructions for setup, seems to work no problems.

Unfortunately, your test results don't follow "generally accepted instructions" for the test. The test photos are expected to show either pixel grid at close range, or a web browser page and desktop & taskbar icons on the same monitor with Chroma Test pic, not on the adjacent one (which is also scaled in your photo). Otherwise the results are invalid. As well, its unclear from your photo, at what frame rate the right monitor runs test pic at the moment. Its funny, you shown it only for an adjacent monitor. smile.gif Would also be nice to see the photo taken straight in front of the monitor at closer range and 0 angle while showing the entire display, and the adjacent monitor photo is redundant for the test.

In addition to the above test taken at required conditions, pls also open this test image Full Screen at no scaling of any kind at 4K@60Hz and post its photo.

I'm confused.. the second pic is all on the same monitor. Its just split screen browser windows. Also by generally accepted setup, I meant for the adapter and TV settings to get 4:4:4 60hz setup, not for testing specifically. Let me know what test/pics you would specifically like to see and I'll upload them. For now though...

The problems are, Club3D adapter can not be hooked to a DL DVI port, if that's what your pic on-screen text shows. Also, DL DVI port can NOT run 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 due to twice lower max bandwidth limit, hence its 4:2:0, or actual reso is lower than the on-screen text shows. The browser window shows the display is scaled. Your last photo was taken at low lighting conditions impossible to see the actual chroma test results.

In addition to the above test taken at right conditions, pls also open in a Picture Viewer (not web browser) this test image Full Screen at no scaling of any kind at 4K@60Hz and post its entire photo in a brightly lit room, then take a 2nd photo at closest range showing only vertical and horizontal lines in the middle.

Then open in a Picture Viewer another test image at 100% zoom with no scaling of any kind, and also open a web browser page on the same screen behind the picture in the background, and post the entire screen photo, also showing TV on-screen menu resolution info as on your above photo.

I'm well aware of the limitation of DVI and this is not a factor here as the monitor is attached directly to the adapter via HDMI only. Hence the screenshot of Nvidia control panel showing and HDMI connection. The TV displays the PC connection as DVI/PC because this is mostly likely a more common setup than this new adapter. Also note that the TV is showing the UHD color is enable which is also an HDMI only feature.

Windows scaling is set to 100% so unless there's some other scaling setting I don't know about then there is no scaling happening. Its nearly impossible to take a meaningful picture at pixel level on a 4k screen with a phone camera so that may have to wait. However, running your test image at 100% size full screen in picture view appears to produce accurate results. I'll update this post if I can get a representative picture.

Are you able to listen to HDMI audio despite that, if your monitor has integrated speakers?

Besides Windows Display scaling, there're browser internal scaling, GPU scaling and TV scaling methods to name a few. wink.gif

I've made sure Nvidia scaling is set to "No Scaling" TV is in un-zoomed 16:9 mode and as I mentioned before Windows scaling is at 100% so I'm pretty confident everything is working correctly. thumb.gif As far as audio goes, I just tested this and surprisingly, Yes, audio works through the TV speakers with the PC outputting audio.

Glad to hear that. In this case it shouldn't be a problem for you to run these extra tests, you offered above to run on request as well. They don't require pixel level closeup, so a mobile phone cam should do. biggrin.gif
