I am far from an expert, probably dont even qualify as an 'armchair expert', and could be giving bad information...but I think that DP 1.2 only handles 4k 60hz via Multi Stream Transport, so the display needs to have the correct processing capabilities to restitch the streams into one again. I think MST support is pretty standard, but again, I could be wrong and way off base here. I am on 4k 60 4:4:4 49". My TV arrived before the rest of my build did, so I played around with it on my 7970s, and I have to say...I dont miss that 30hz AT ALL, even for desktop work. If I were you, I would do my due diligence and not settle for 30.

This and other forums were packed with Club3D adapter ads, none supported by a shred of evidence. It resulted in overwhelming demand for a mediocre piece of hardware, and then huge disappointment for quite a few folks. Then people started posting actual test results instead of emotions. Sure you shared this on several forums for a good reason, so it will only help if you show some proof that Club3D or UpTab adapter supports 4K@30Hz 4:4:4 signal. Can you follow exactly this and that posts methodology to run several chroma tests, and post photos of your results (not screenshots)?

Not exactly. DP1.2 indeed supports packet based MST with AMD Eyefinity when several displays are hooked to one DP1.2 port through an MST Hub. Even in this scenario each display receives just one stream from the hub destined for that particular display. If only one display is hooked to a DP1.2 port, there is no need to send multiple streams to it, one stream will suffice. So DP1.2 is definitely capable of sending 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 signal via a single stream, or up to 6 interleaved streams at lower resolution. smile.gif

"MST hub does away with the need to have a DP1.2 compliant monitor, as the hub is taking care of separating the display streams and communicating to the host via DP1.2. Furthermore MST hubs are compatible with adaptors, meaning DVI/VGA/HDMI ports can be created off of a MST hub by using the appropriate active adaptor."

Just got the Accell. It's identical to the Club3d with a different name on it. Can't comment on the results, I can't test because something else is wrong. I can only get 4k on HDMI 3 now (which is the only input that doesn't support 4:4:4). Any other input doesn't communicate with the TV, defaults locked to 640x480 and says "monitor not connected" in Catalyst. The Club3d started doing this after about a week and this was the reason I sent the Club3d back (although the club3d did it on every input), and I'm on a new install of Windows now, so I'm not sure what to blame. I'm kinda thinking the Club3d may have screwed up the HDMI inputs or firmware on my TV. Also the fans in my video card started dying. Probably not related, but interesting timing. So, I'm stuck at 4k@60hz 4:2:0 on HDMI 3 until I figure out what's wrong.

If DP1.2 is the only port you can connect to your TV at any resolution, detach the active adapter and hook a passive one, then reboot. Now reset your GPU Settings, then in Device Manager try uninstalling ALL displays (or delete all Registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\DISPLAY and HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY ) and reboot. Alternatively, attach the TV cable to any GPU port directly, reset your GPU Settings in ACC and repeat the above. If not fixed, detach all cables from TV, power it off / on, then Reset in Service Menu and reboot the TV. Then hook it again to the PC GPU port directly to read its EDID data. If everything works now, try the active adapter again. Just keep in mind, it reads the TV EDID and forwards it to your PC GPU driver to record in Win Registry. If the adapter FW is faulty, your Reg Display Capabilities records (EDIDs) will be too. wink.gif

It's a fresh install of Windows. My PS3 says "no signal" on every input except HDMI 3, so I'm pretty sure this adapter screwed over the HDMI board on my TV. Same thing happened to my buddy with his Toshiba, except his was struck by lightning. Calling Best Buy now. Buyer beware. I have the extended warranty but others might not be so lucky.

Alright! Well I returned the Club 3D adapter because I had weird pixel popping when using it. They were sold out so I got an Accell adapter and it works great on my Samsung UN40JU6500!

I'm very happy with it. The chroma images are displaying as they should and they are identical to my normal computer monitor next to it.

I do get some weird shadows when moving windows around, but I only noticed them because I was looking for the pixels popping that happened last time.

This one works great!

Does anyone have any confirmed success getting 4k @60hz with R9 290's with the Club3D adapter?

I was going to go pick one up tomorrow, but if it doesn't work I'm definitely not going to waste my time.

Well I got this working with the Accell adapter with 2-290x's. To my understanding the adapters are identical, but my Club3D one was messed up. I'm getting 4k 60hz 4:4:4 chroma on my Samsung UN40JU6500.
