Nice! Did you have to cut the case for this mod? If yes, how did you do it? I do also want this smile.gif
post #253 of 2956
Alright so I've been busy with the Thermaltake Core P5 and I'm going to show some build pictures aswell as give my unwanted criticism about the case.
I've always learned to give feedback in 'sandwich' style: start with something positive, then constructive and always close with another positive remark biggrin.gif

Let me first state that I love the openness of this case, as well as the (powdercoated?) paint on it. It feels really heavy and the overall finish of the case is superb.
With other cases I'm always really 'afraid' of accidentally scratching it with a screwdriver, screw or anything else that isn't soft as a bunny.

Now let's add some criticism that might be helpful/useful for other people that experience practical problems smile.gif

1) There's like no rubber or foamlike material to dampen the sound or vibrations from harddisks, pump and PSU.
These brackets should really have just a little bit of rubber-like material to dampen possible sound vibrations.

2) Mounting SSDs on the front of the case is not very convenient. With a big radiator you cant use the extra SSD slots in the front.
Also with tubing and a big reservoir the other SSD mounting holes are not that great to use.

I have to mount my 2 SSDs to the back of the case, but the damn HDD cages don't have any holes for 2,5" SSDs.
My solution: I bought a Corsair SSD Dual mount bracket, which I really love:

2 SSDs stacked together for maximum convenience

3) I think that on the right side of the radiator mount, TT should've added one little hole to be able to manage fan cables better.
This is a really small detail but would be nice in my opinion! Of course I could do it myself, perhaps later.

My fan cable management is quite ridiculous though.
I've used about 3 extension cables and like 2 or 3 Y-splitters to get all the fans together in 1 cable so all 3 fans are connected to the CPU_header.

4) My reservoir and pump combo is awesome, but a complete mess to mount inside the TT Core P5..
The 2 reservoir brackets have 4 different mounthing holes, ranging from like 0mm (middle), to 50mm 120mm and 140mm.
None of these fitted, I had to buy other reservoir brackets sadly.

Also the 2 'feet' of the pump don't allign with the pump bracket holes. So my reservoir-pump combo (Alphacool VPP655 pump + Alphacool Eisbecher 250mm reservoir) didn't with the stock brackets.
I guess it's just bad luck though

5) The PSU is mounted nicely, the cable management is easy to do aswell. Perfect!

And some random build pics:

I know I know, Noctua doesnt make the prettiest fans.. But I love em, performance wise.

I really love the look of this case, it's massive, open and a real piece of art.
I could use some more love in terms of build-design; some extra gadgets/features to make mounting components easier/better/more efficient.

Hopefully I'll get my soft tubing custom loop ready today so I can fire it up.
I can hopefully post some more pics this evening or tomorrow.

My build isn't the most expensive or prettiest, but I sure do like it thumb.gif

ROFL you sick bastard, thats some hardcore radiator surface. Nice job.

Im curious how you mounted your reservoir like that on the top, could you make some extra pics or give me some details? smile.gif
Mine is placed rather silly at the moment, too low. Nice build thumb.gif

The build is still not finish the reservoir hold on places whit an phobya reservoirs holder using one off the original screws hole but copper tubbing helps to hold it from the bottom

Pics if the réservoir the pump is hiding in the case its not Prety to show off its an old swiftec mcp 35 (searching something to avoid vibration at full speed)

Sorry whit the picture quality soon a friend will come to get some good shoot

Oh yes. This was my first time dremeling a case. I used the dremel to cut the hole, and a file to widen it just enough to fit the controller in there. The fan controller is mounted to a Case Labs 5.25 bay mount for 3.5" devices. I had to remove the front plate of the mount, and used Case Labs HDD mounting screws and rubber vibration discs to space it properly. It helped a lot to have spare Case Labs parts laying around. smile.gif

Guys im having some really weird issues. My graphics card is showing really werd problems with the PCIE riser.

My PC becomes really slow, the Mouse cursor is moving really laggy and very delayed. The audio through the hdmi cable from my 980 gtx to my TV is also really laggy and doesnt sound right.

The CPU is at 28 degrees, CPU at around 28 idle aswell. Im positieve the PCIE riser cable is the issue, although i have to test this more thoroughly.

Anyone else experiencing problems?

@ThermalMike

Hello,

We have been testing several different combinations of MB/GPU to check for issues. We have tested a few different GTX980's during the time.

I will make another post here about the Riser cable "New Design" we got in to help for those that are experience some issues.
