Is the AM1 platform dead? - Page 4

Oh boy, not to troll or anything, by Skylake Celeron would rip AM1 quad-core apart. $50, really? Maybe it was a good product in its time but in 2016 (almost 2017) one should at the very least carefully consider the alternatives before going with AM1.

I've been debating getting a 5350 for the last year since they seem to be on perma-sale at microcenter for $40. For the gigs obviously.

Have continuously not had a suitable AM1 board in stock everytime I go in as well except a refurbished one and it's not a very good one. So I've gone without. Now I just want the darn x4 950 to release with AM4. That's also taking to long. tongue.gif

Cool to see that the 5370 is finally out. I still wish AMD would have taken the stops out an released an AM1 chip that ran at 3+ GHz. Or something crazy like a 16 core + 512 SP variant.

AM1 IGP is arguably better. I can actually play most games on it if I scale the resolution back. The driver support for the IGP is also FAR better.
