Intel Broadwell-C Ownership Club - Page 89

you need the bios and the intel ME. ggia's problem was the bios update didnt fix the tdp limit and the fix is just using XTU, which works great tbh. In fact, the guy with the best overclock in the thread has a giga.
my experience was ez pz. i download bios to stick, used msi m-flash in bios, udated intel ME before my 5775-c arrieved. When it did i went to bios and reset to default my oc settings and powered down. removed cooler, chip. dropped in chip, pasted, cooler replaced. powered on to bios and posted/booted first try. ez pz.

Ah, yes, that's right! It can't be a firmware issue if XTU allows it to work.thumb.gif

My experience was simple as well. Already had the latest BIOS. biggrin.gif

Asus Maximus VII Formula? MSI Z97 XPower AC? Gigabyte Z97X-SOC? Something else? FYI I'm using Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 for the 3770K which is the absolute bestest motherboard for socket 1155, so I'd like to replace it with equally epic board if Im gonna go 1150.

I have Maximus VII Hero so I can recommend it. It is really good MOBO. I would grab Formula but it is no available (new one) nowhere in Europe biggrin.gif. They stoped production long time ago.

I am so glad I have found this CPU. I don't have to upgrade for next 2 years easly, same as I would have 7700k CPU.

Not only that but I have premium, collectors CPU biggrin.gif that is black, unkown horse and I am feeling really elite having this forgotten gem inside my case.

Really better feeling than having just another 7700k biggrin.gif.

it's the same 2400 c-10 most of us are running (gskill kit) but he gets 200 extra points or more b/c of his extreme amount of ram (32gb), and b/c that monster he has holding that 4.3/3.9, too.

Im glad you listened to me. we met with you arguing that my 5775-c couldnt possibly be as good as I was saying tongue.gif
And, yeah, It's uniqueness is a big plus to me, too. Makes my rig feel more special.

Yeah, back when I was building my 3770k pc everyone was telling me there's absolutely no point going above 1600mhz as there would be no performance difference at all... what bull****, recent tests by Digital Foundry show that there's actually quite a big difference in game framerates. Anyways, lied by those guys, I bought 2x8gb crucial kit with 1600mhz cl9 1.5v specs that was both low profile and had built-in orange and blue LEDs, to fit under a dual tower phanteks tc14pe cooler. Now I regret not getting the dominator platinums instead and a single tower noctua u14s cooler.

I'm using GSkill 2400 C10, also in an Asus Maximus Hero VII smile.gif

I did look at the Formula VII recently, but note that the Hero has a later bios release available (bios 3201), from this year, so stuck with my board.

excuse me for the offtopic, but I noticed this forum has a nice build log section, I'd like to post thread(s) for all the machines I'm currently building including the 5775c machine, and I was wondering whether I should post a separate thread for each of them, or if I can put all of them in a single build log thread?

OC them dudes! that is a good kit. turn off xmp and run 1866 at c-9, 2133 at c-10, or maybe 2400 at c-11. dont be afraid to add up to 1.7v. those ram will do 2133 at c-10 at 1.5v (1.65v , maybe)i bet. i almost guarantee it. if 10,10,10, 35 doesnt work, try 10,12,11,34
