I don't know why they never expected this after not changing the shell design.

How does shell design effect the switches malfunctioning? Is it a shell problem that's causing it or the switches themselves?

So wait...

"Modifications to the FK1, FK2, ZA11, ZA12, ZA13, EC1-A, EC2-A models are underway with the adoption of the Huano switches and delivery of these modified models is expected to resume by end of March."

So...Zowie's "solution" to this issue is going BACK to huanos? So in essence the "new" models (due at the...end of March) will be exactly the same as the original huano-based models that already existed before this whole BenQ merger? My rib cage lachen.gif

Yup, it seems to Zowie "fix" means give up and go back to the old product.

And every now and then make a new "revision" of the same exact model with one thing different and then sell it at $60-$70 then tell their consumers that they don't have a process to RMA the old, flawed product for the new, less flawed product (because Zowie's mice will always have flaws.) so they have to buy the new one. rolleyes.gif

It's a very cheap mouse. Also, it appears that the double click stuff is the user not releasing the button properly.

Like the mousewheel skipping issue was probably something that didn't bother most people enough to actually return the mouse, but double clicking is something that people will send back almost all the time. And Zowie seems sensitive to returns given Amazon stopped carrying their mice for a while and seem to be late to the party whenever a new one is released (Amazon is ridiculously lax with returns and that probably caused strife with Zowie just like it did Nintendo a while back)

I have said there is no point of switching to Omron switches. The shell design is the main cause of complaints with the mice that have the lighter Huano switches. The EC, AM and FK all need shell improvements. From what I heard years ago, Omron switches caused too many problems for Zowie Gear to make it worth giving the consumer their request. So, I assumed they would raise the debounce to the previous level, or increase it, to deal with the issues that were going to occur with the BenQ mice. However, it turned out to be worse... I'm not surprised at all, hence my decision not to buy another Zowie product until they overhaul their designs.

I sent (now former) employees of Zowie Gear a list of things regarding issues and improvements. That was years ago. They can't say they aren't aware of the issues and potential issues. They have a lot of user suggestions for better products to draw from.

BenQ/Zowie should design entirely new products with the same type of shapes they have now. That doesn't mean to not change the shape of the EC, FK and ZA because those can be improved. If they ask for ideas they will have many submissions. If they don't redesign that's because they don't care about improvements and user opinions.

Would you purchase a second zowie or is the shell design all that bad?

I've not owned a zowie yet, but I was planning on getting the EC model with omrons, that's not going to happen anymore though biggrin.gif

I have owned many Zowie mice. I currently own 4. I don't want to buy another Zowie mouse until they redesign.

The EC design makes it easier to press stiffer switches. The switches are placed behind the scroll wheel and the shell bends easily. Light switches in the EC will likely feel mediocre. The EC shell already has a lot of pre travel and over travel -- adding mushy switches would make things worse. The EC needs to be redesigned to make the improvements people want. Throwing some Omron switches in won't make the mouse great.

Truth spoken! We will see if Zowie changes/improves their shells, my guess is that they're not going to. Many pro gamers already uses them and fuels the Zowie hype which hauls in the m0neyz to our geekass mouse-connoisseurs disappointment :< But let's hope :>

A separate buttons piece is a start.

I stopped using the EC2 for CS because the buttons were bad and the scroll wheel had issues. I could use it for GO, but I don't see the point when I switched to the AM and FK.
