Zowie get omrons! - Page 46

interesting. the only story i have is using a logitech g3, with d2fc-f-7n's (10M), daily from 2007 to 2013, without ever having any click issues.

but the other question is shell design and how that affects longevity, which to me is quite a mysterious subject.

It's the IE4... Not the best design.

Used Lachesis 3G. Shipped to me inside a used sandwich bag in a non padded parcel.

Right and left switch plungers showed heavy use. Right switch was caved in. The left mouse switch though? Worked perfectly.

It's all down to fate at some point I swear.

Bought the EC1-A before the benq rebrand. Comes in today and I'm pretty excited redface.gif

That could be due to omrons, though. Reverting back to huanos will probably make the latency identical to the rest.

Anyways, am I the only one happy that they're going back to huanos? 16 step wheel with the clicks I love and an interesting color scheme

What amazes me more than anything is the many creative ways Zowie gets people to buy the same products over and over again, even in the midst of their own mishaps.

Prime example...even if you're not one of the people who bought an omron variant they're still going to reel-in suc..consumers, based on the 16-step scroll wheel and new colorway. So from one perspective, the utter failure that was the BenQ launch became a platform to release an "even better!" hauno lineup. And potentially another "even better!" 3360 release a few months down the road.

If they changed the shapes a lot of people wouldn't be happy. If they don't change the shape then a lot of people aren't happy. It's a lose-lose. They'll never be able to please everyone; neither will any other company. Personally, I like the FK1 a lot and I will gladly buy the 3360 variant if and when it gets released. One thing I dislike about Zowie mice is the scrollwheel. Not so bad on my EC1-a but my FK1 scroll could definitely be improved. Although I know they don't want to since it will "cost too much". This is the only thing I am not happy about. If someone is looking at a new Zowie mouse and doesn't already have one I actually implore them to give it a shot. Great mice IMO.

I don't dislike Zowie on the whole. And I like all their shapes (FK, ZA, EC). I was just using them as an example of the "variant" trend. I'd much rather see brands slowing the releases down and making sure that what we're getting is worthwhile. IMO Zowie should've waited for a 3360 implementation to release the BenQ mice (a bit of hindsight, even on my part) but instead they rush out these re-skinned ones where the main selling point ended up getting them recalled. Their response to this was essentially an advert for yet another cycle of products.

There's too many "placeholder" mice coming out nowadays. And by that I don't mean "well, I'll just buy this mouse until some company releases what I really want" but rather individual brands are pushing products that serve no purpose other than a quick buck until their next "improved" batch crops up in mere months.

The only silver lining to this 3360 era is (hopefully) sensor debacles will be out of the mix.

We've already seen that it's not going anywhere. wink.gif Some users rank the PMW336x as the "worst" sensor(s) currently available from these top-tier sensors, so...
