980 SLI Upgrade Options?

Thread Starter
Hello,

This is another one of those threads again.
Current System
  • Corsair 850D
  • Corsair AX1200i PSU
  • ASUS X99 Deluxe
  • Intel Core i7 5930k
  • Corsair 16Gb Dominator Platinum DDR4 2800Mhz
  • 2x EVGA GTX 980 SC SLI
  • ASUS ROG Swift 144Hz 2560x1440

Poor SLI Support
As the list says I do have a 144Hz 1440p monitor. I'm beginning to get frustrated recently at the lackluster SLI support for new titles. Star Wars Battlefront currently has a major SLI stuttering bug on certain maps. Rainbow Six Seige offers no performance benefit to SLI whatsoever, despite an SLI profile being released for the game. Fallout 4 also had spotty SLI support at launch.
The cherry on top is that EPIC has announced that Unreal 4 will never support SLI.

Question
As far as I can tell the new Pascal cards should be coming early to mid 2016 next year. The fullsize Maxwell chip (Titan X) has been out since March.
My question to you is does it make sense to make a move to a new GPU at this time?
In titles that fully support SLI I know I would be losing a bit when going to say a Titan X or 980Ti, but for games that don't support SLI would it be a big enough jump?

Thanks!

To be honest I do not thing the jump is big enough. it's more like paying a premium and you are pretty close to it, but you will feel the price difference tongue.gif.

A one to one comparison between a 980 sc vs 980Ti amp, looks like a 25% increase, but keep in mind that's only comparing the hardware.

I think is better to way a bit more for pascal and see. but if you feel like the wait is too far then buy one of those 980Ti, the real advantage of the Titan X is the extra Vram if you need it, get it tongue.gif

again that's just my opinion rolleyes.gif maybe someone that made the jump can tell you better tongue.gif Cheers!

I agree. I would wait for Pascal/Arctic Islands. Its not far away and time flies.
