EVGA 430watt and 600watt PSU - $30 and $40 - Page 3

We are talking lower tier here otherwise I would not have mentioned CoolerMaster either rolleyes.gif

You see, you just can't say a brand name nowadays when it comes to PSU's. You have to acknowledge the Tier levels and quality per Tier (warranty to back it up).

Thanks! What about antec? I might get a used antec psu for super cheap.

Antec earthwatt green 380D
Or
Antec vp450?
Both around $25-30. Are they better than evga?

Antec, Rosewell, most bargain PSU's on the Tiger
Antec and Rosewell are great on the top tier.

Keep in mind the review sites suggested previously in this thread "pushed it" for all their testing. This is not the norm for a HTPC or non overclocking PC

You never buy a psu based on brand. You buy a psu based on analysis by a reputable site like johnnyguru.

Yes, but on a budget, know your PSU
For instance . . .
Do you really think my 350wt min requirement is going to mess up my PC Components with a Bronze EVGA 750wt PSU for the same price as a EVGA Gold 500wt? It may be close when you push it

Earthwatt are one of there better lower tier lines by Antec. (still high failure rate)
NO, never buy a used PSU, NEVER (unless like you saw the person buying it new at checkout or something like that). And what is your warranty with a used PSU>?

Is the earthwatt 380D better than the vp450? Assuming both are new or unused. And also compared to these evga models?

Yeah, I'd go with the Earthwatt. EVGA that aren't GS, P2, or G2 are junk.
