I just picked up a Z35 at a MicroCenter (St. Davids store in PA) for quite a nice deal. The sales person who sold it to me mentioned that she may have a deal to save me some money. When I asked what that deal was, she said if i purchased a processor with the monitor, the Z35 would be 20% off. I said I would think about it as she went and got the monitor. When she came back with the monitor and the 20% coupon, the CPU I had to purchase to get the discount was something quite old. Not quite sure what it is (haven't looked at it yet) but it was only $6.95.

So basically for $6.95, I saved 20% off of the $1099.99 retail price...$219.99 to be exact.

If you have a MicroCenter by you and are looking for the Z35, that is quite the nice deal.

I haven't had a chance to setup it up yet as I'm still at work for a few hours.... frown.gif

I was just at a Microcenter 2 days ago, and I didn't see the Z35 on display, only the X34. Is it common for the stores to carry items that aren't even on their website?

I never thought to ask someone there since I didn't see it on display, figured they just didn't carry it. Probably would of bought it, definitely might call them and try for this 20% off deal.

Not sure but I know this particular store didn't even have the Z35 listed until yesterday. And actually it is listed as the X35 in the description.

I'm loving this monitor for $879!!! smile.gif

Damn, it actually says they have 2 in stock at my closest micro center. Wish they had one on display.

Ha....I asked the same thing about one being on display. The box is huge. Funny thing is it is not nearly as big as I thought it would be on my desk.

Remember at MicroCenter, you get 15 days to determine if you like the monitor or not.

Just from a quick run-through at default monitor settings with The Witcher 2 & Fallout 4...I'm really liking Gysnc!!!

Some observations about the Z35.

1 - G-Sync rocks!!! It is that good...at least in my situation sitting with a GTX 970 overclocked. Smooth as silk... smile.gif
2 - 2560x1080, while not for everyone, works very well for me. I keep the monitor about 3 feet from my eyes and it is sharp to these aging eyes.
3 - 200Hz refresh...oh so smooth. Coming from a 60Hz monitor...big difference in smoothness. I was always a bit skeptical but not anymore.
4 - Out of the box, colors are nice. I'm using the ICC profile from TFTCentral and their settings except for Brightness which I have at 40 (that may go lower). http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm#games
5 - Viewing angles are great when I'm sitting at my desk. I think the curve helps in that regard. If I stand up or look from the side then not so much. My wife commented she thought the display looked washed out, she was standing at the time, but I told her to sit and she said that was much better.
6 - No dead or stuck pixels that I can see.
7 - I noticed YouTube videos looked slightly washed out. I corrected that by going into the Nvidia Control Panel and changing the settings under Video - Adjust Video Color Settings to With Nvidia Settings, tweaking the Brightness & Contrast under the Color tab & making changing the Dynamic Range under the Advanced tab to Fill from Limited and also .

I have 15 days to return it so I'm going to put it through its paces even more before I decide if I'm going to keep it but so far I'm leaning towards a keeper.

I do...Alien Isolation.

Much better experience on the Z35 compared to my Samsung S24D390HL, which uses an AD-PLS panel.

I ran them on both and I had to crank the Gamma in-game on the Sammy and it still didn't look as nice as the Z35. The blacks just look darker and to quote Mr. Nigel Tufnel "There's something about this that's so black, it's like how much more black could this be? And the answer is none. None more black."

Yeah VA blacks are decent (especially really high end VA TVs) but you can still tell that the display is on. They're not perfect. With OLED displaying a pure black screen, it looks like it's turned off.

I appreciated the higher contrast of a VA monitor i test drove, but its far too slow. Really cant wait until OLED monitors hit us by storm. Wish i was strapped enough to drop $5k on the upcoming dell.
