I couldn't get Pantheon to work either. That was a while ago though. Maybe it works better now.

When I originally tried Deepin (while it was only in the AUR), I really liked the overall design of the interface and controls, but some things just didn't work and everything was really slow. I just went back to i3 + xcompmgr for a while. During that while, things started to get buggy for me. I'm guessing it was xcompmgr acting up (didn't know about Compton at the time, but using it instead might have fixed my issues). Windows wouldn't focus properly or be displayed at all, and I would have to restart i3, sometimes multiple times, just to get back to a working desktop.

Then I somehow managed to severely corrupt my /home filesystem, which was formatted as ext4. After that, I just really wanted an out-of-the-box working system to install and be done with it. Well, working and Arch based. So there were really only two choices: Antergos and Manjaro.

Antergos is pretty cool. Both my wife and daughter's PC's are both running Antergos Mate. It's basically Arch with an installer and some extra packages. You get updates every day, and you still get some of the quirkiness of Arch where stuff just hasn't been installed yet and things look just a bit off.

Then there's Manjaro, which I hadn't tried before Manjaro Deepin. It's less rolling releasey, as in I only have updates to install every few days. Everything works though, and it works well.

Trying out Herbstluftwm. It trounces i3 in functionality and even pulls ahead if i3-gaps with the elegant bordering, now it's much easier to spot active windows

^ awesome! For some reason I can't view the source on the site, really wish SF were more simple like Github

I'm starting mess with Herbs a bit, padded the bottom to make room for a second bar and just messing around trying to figure out what to fill it with. dzen2 is more bare-bones than i3bar but more flexible as well, even pop-up menus are possible which is a nice addition thumb.gif I guess it's just as boring-looking as i3bar but hey... function first smile.gif
