[Consumerist]TigerDirect Has New Owner, Changes Return Policy On Christmas - Page 8

TigerDirect was the only place I shopped for parts 10-15 years ago. I build my first PC from purchases I made with them (AMD 600Mhz Slot-A). They had great selection. Then they moved into "consumer electronics" and carried more tvs and cellphones than computer parts. Now they hardly have anything that isn't a popular part and when it goes "On Sale!" it almost matches the regular price that newegg has.

Newegg has expanded too, I hope they don't cut back on pc parts. I wish Microcenter would ship more.

While Newegg has expanded to carry a lot of junk and bizarre stuff, I don't think that a lot of it is actually stored in their warehouse. I think that they drop ship that stuff from harbor freight or the dollar store. While it is somewhat annoying to see their site cluttered with that mess (and therefore my inbox), it must make them some money so good for them. It seems like they are competing primarily with Amazon who gets my money over newegg with the exception of major components.

Tiger had lots of junk too smile.gif

I got the only thing I needed from them years ago(and it is just a re-brand of another companies product.).
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1187801&cm_mmc=Email-_-WebletMain-_-CANLET-_-03order&SRCCODE=CANLET

It is not quite as good as the 4 port(only replaced because the switches started to stick after years of use) it replaced(the switches are a bit cheap), but it gets the job done.

Seems like they still have good stock on the site for hardware. I guess we'll see how it goes but at least we still have NE and Amazon...

That is the Canadian Tigerdirect.ca website - they are getting hardware and electronics from a different distributor.

Here is the American Tigerdirect.com website:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/

They literally have nothing left.... the last time I check before today they only had LCD cleaners.

a death that i am surprised didn't come sooner. lol they shipped me a gpu once after i had canceled the order, they never charged me for it, was like 2 years ago, i contacted support and they were like sorry we have no record of that order, i was like yeah i know you sent it by mistake... basically got a free 7950 or w.e it was, really bad outdated system they had...

Yeah, most links send you right back to main page, or send you to a page describing what the item is. just a big loop. RIP.

Although I must say, the last time I used them was when I built a PC for a friend back in 9600GT and Athlon x2 days. He wanted the PC THAT DAY so we went down to the Naperville store and picked out parts.
