Just subscribed to this thread so sorry if this has been answered...

I Have a 290x and got my Rift last week. I'm trying to figure out if I should buy a new video card (or two), but all the games I've played seem to run just fine on my single 290x. Is it worth spending $400-$600 for a 1070/1080 at this point for VR?

I'm kind of itching to build a whole new system, but again does it make sense to spend $2,500+ for a socket 2011 system with dual cards?

Like is there a killer game out there that justifies the video card purchase? I know Star Citizen does, but if that's the only reason I'm upgrading then I'm going to wait for that to actually work properly on VR (which I don't believe it does now).

If you are satisfied with the 290x perforamnce right now wait for big pascal 1080ti or pascal titan ,i got te 1080 becouse i sold my tow 980ti beofre 1080 was annonced and i can max any VR game right now , 1 card solution is always better than sli or crossfire.

Going to have to drop the price if you want to move it quick. You can try to sell it on the marketplace here so no Ebay fees.

If your CPU is decent I would just get a new GPU. I would stay away from SLI/CF right now if your main priority is VR as hardly anything in VR supports it currently. Strongest GPU that is in your budget. I would definitely get a Pascal card with all the VR benefits of the new cards. Is it worth it? That's all depends on your perspective. If you like your eye candy maxed out. I know a 290x can't max everything out right now in VR. Project Cars & Elite Dangerous are 2 that I know of that will have issues if you turn up settings.

1080ti is also a great option as stated above if you can wait.

Are you guys playing these games in Virtual Desktop? Project Cars seems to be running fine but I haven't messed with settings too much. I play Witcher 3 on PS4, but Far Cry 4 was going to be my next purchase for PC (and DOOM).

Virtual Desktop only lets you see it Virtually on a Bigger Screen
Chek out VorpX , kind of an emulator into real VR

Marketplace on OCN? Where do i find it? I'm sure i'll find more enthusiasts here than eBay thumb.gif
I mean i can put it back together to Stock, still have factory heat sink somewhere but i'd rather give it to some one who knows what he's getting without unrelated questions.
