Rift godrays are a worse in loading screens - but I don't play loading screens much tbh.

Sure the Vive has the wands - but considering the lack of decent content for them I am very happy to get the better HMD, wait for the Touch controllers (which are also better than the vive wands) and get the launch titles - which are actual games rather than tech demos or single level affairs.
Add that to things like ATW and the flat out streamlined experience in OH and I feel pretty good about my purchase.

Like I said before, my buddy offered to swap (he has the Vive) and I said no. If I had to do it all over, I would still pre-order the rift.

Waiting on more content, cool, it is just the initial , and mostly really engaging offerings. I would imagine that most do find it a riot with all the interaction.

The touch controllers might be better in some scenarios, but dude vive controllers are not akin to Wii and the touch something new, the opposite vive has a more robust tracking system with less occlusion AND it works well enough for consumers to have used for months. The touch is so complete it can't be shipped? And IR? Isn't that more Wii like?

The only competent argument you make is that you emotionally like the rift, good for your emotions, but not for tech talk or the industry or for consumers as a whole.

Feel good happy go to a emotional support forum, these are the merits of the tech and policies running the tech.
Facebook has a competitive and without touch incomplete product and a flawed and dangerous for the industry and consumer company culture. The fact you keep saying vive like Wii and rifte likes does not make it so for the rest of the thinking discerning and in this case concerned with the trajectory and health of the mass adaptation of this tech especially in what if can be used for and abused for!

This is typical for room scale "games" right now.

That's not what the word demo means. The length of a game makes it a demo? What rift games are 50+ hours and better than all these vive tech demos?

Laser tracking < camera tracking? You can't argue this one.

My main reason for not getting a rift right now is tracking and room scale. I can't see not having 360 room scale after using a vive. I don't believe in the camera tracking system and I think it will be abandoned at some point. I found this quote by Jason Rubin about a week ago rather odd.

"I will say we just got the latest revision of Touch hardware back that is not on the show floor, that is not in developers' hands. They just started coming off the production line and they're higher quality and better tracking than what you see today. We have the capability to do room-scale and we are still determining what our exact position is with regards to room-scale."

So touch is this far along and they still don't know if it can do room scale? Doesn't that seem like a huge red flag? I think it is pretty obvious they're trying to turn it into something it is not to compete. I wish they would of sold and developed it as an awesome sit down headset, at least until cv2. If the optics and display had a noticeable advantage over the vive, I would be more compelled to buy one since I do play simulators.

1) Elite Dangerous. 1000 hours+

2) Camera tracking is clearly superior. No idea why this is still a debate.

3) Rift does 360 room scale. Rift does 360 room scale. RIFT DOES 360 ROOM SCALE! How many times does yet another lie have to be debunked? There are many many many vids on youtube clearly showing this.

I'm playing ED right now on my vive..

They why hasn't oculus stated full 360? With room scale the problem is how well will it work and will oculus support it.

Imagine it can do it 360 room scale 99% of the time, but oculus doesn't officially support it. Maybe they only support front facing. Do you think oculus exclusives will have 360 support? What about 360 room scale games that work on the vive? Do they sell it to oculus owners and risk taking on negative feedback? It will fragment the market. Everyone needs to be on the same page.

Here is the link with the quote from about a week ago. I just don't get how they have been developing this thing for years and they still can't decided if they will support room scale. If it can do it, why are they still determining if they will support it? It doesn't add up.

*Playing ED with lower pixel density and without ATW.

Don't need Oculus to support 360. I will play all the Vive "games" that do.

Arent good sticks and wheels covering that extra $200 with ease?

The vive is amazing, AND I can still play the rift games with reVIVE, so....I'm good.

The rift is nice though, but I like my vive personally and dont think it would disappoint thumb.gif

blind devotion to a product is a little offputting though, and doesnt help discussion OR the further adoption of VR imo :/

Was a massive Oculus Fan had all the Dev Kits, tried the crystal cove etc and Oculus CV1 prior to release and ended up cancelling my CV1 pre-order when HTC Vive was available quicker. The VALVe / HTC partnership cant be understated. In 10 years time we will all be playing VR games. The VR HMD will get 10% cheaper every year on average.
