Yeah, they're different, but SteamVR automatically maps the buttons on Touch to what they are on Vive. So, the grip button I believe is the ring finger button on touch, both analog sticks work like the track pads, trigger to trigger, and so on.

There are a bunch of videos out there of devs that have Touch showing how it works. Sorry, I'd be more detailed, but I don't know a TON about how it works and such, just seen the videos and wrtieups.

I'm not sure it's that easy with all Vive games, maybe some that already had Rift Touch in mind during development.

With that said I hope it is indeed that easy. We need all the VR guys to come together on Steam for more robust multiplayer. The more numbers we have in MP, the more devs will spend for great games. With the high price of
VR entry we need the community together, not divided. The more people on SteamVR the better.

It is that easy, assuming the dev hasn't created special code for the Vive wands. As long as they use the basic set up for Vive, it will translate to Touch. It's when they start changing things that it won't just transfer over. One game I know that won't work that easily is Hotdogs Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. The dev mentioned he spent a lot of time coding specific stuff in for the Vive that would mean he'd have to do a lot of changes using the Oculus SDK to make Touch work correctly.

Sounds good Reloaded. thumb.gif Btw HTC is trying to do their own software distribution storefront like Oculus. No one I know uses it, even though they were offering great games for cheap. I just don't see how the Oculus and HTC stores can compete with Steam.

In other news John Wick VR just became available for pre-order. It looks AWESOME!! Hope it's done right!

I knew they were up to something! They always avoided the question.

It's not ideal, but I also don't care about room scale, and I never expected them to add it anyway.

I'm more madc at how expensive the touch controllers are.

From what I've read, the tracking for the vive is more precise but oculus makes up for that and more because the controllers are more ergonomic/lighter so you think about them less while in vr.

There have been plenty of videos and reports showing that 2 cameras works quite well for a large area. One recently even pointed out that they almost never occluded the Touch controllers with 2 front facing cameras.

I don't have a problem with 3 cameras, but I also don't have an area big enough to require 3 cameras. If I did, I suppose it might be slightly annoying to read that 3 are recommended, but up until now, Oculus never really said they were going to fully support room scale, so I guess it just depends on how closely one has been following Oculus and what they want out of a VR headset.
