Going to order an oculus rift this week. I will get the touch controlls too.

So I am not getting room scale with this setup right? Need a 3rd camera?

Yes at least 3 for 360 degree movement. Last time I tried 3 sensors on the Rift tracking was still glitchy at times with room-scale and that broke immersion. Not sure how much more than 3 sensors would help.

The latest software is a massive improvement. tracking is now pretty flawless for 99% of people with 3 sensors.

is it me or is it just impossible to explain the medium of VR to naysayers? it pretty much is, considering this medium is not even within a "2d" context like photos, movies, or gaming on 2D monitors, but completely replicating our 3D senses, so to speak.

Can't really do much about pointless arguing. Really, the VR technology needs to be cheaper, the medium is here but not cheap enough so that enough people "get it", so to speak in terms of recognizing the potential of the VR medium.

And heck, I can't believe it's a year of VR already.

I am back, and it is something that needs to be experienced or that required the access brain power or any form of positive self view and personal power through well thought and consistently applied action and constant observation for seeing farther and clearer and capability (survival trait)to take actions leading to BETTER tomorrow's.

In short they are either people who have not tried VR.

or are MAINSTREAM consumers.

There were epic flamewars on Reddit over this, lol.

Now Oculus's roomscale is fine as Vive, provided you got three sensors.

Hmmm.... is their tracking space still smaller than Vive or is that improved?

I could see 3 being beneficial, but I'v had minimal issues with putting two cameras pointing at each then standing between them. I personally don't feel spending more on a third camera would be worth it. I'v had a couple other people try it and didn't receive any feedback about losing tracking until you tried to pick an object from the floor.

Most of my problems were because I didn't have them sitting high enough to point downward to see the floor. I set them sitting at desk height and pointed about 20 degrees upward which is pretty far from idea. Somehow they still managed to track the controllers below my knee level even though they weren't pointed below my waist. The only extra thing I would recommend is buying a USB extension for the second sensor to get a larger area.

I pack up the rift stuff and put it away after each use so I don't bother doing anything special for setup. If I had more space, I would mount the two sensors above head level and point them downward for best results.

Does anyone have experience getting VorpX to work with the GTAVR mod in GTAV?

Everytime the Vorpx VR driver is running, GTA will tell me "GTA5.exe not found." when I try to launch GTA V using PlayGTAV.exe.

I've already tried reinstalling GTA V so I'm using a completely clean version. (Although, I only installed GTA this week for the first time so I was already using a "clean" version...

Ending the VorpX VR driver (64bit version only) task, solves the problem. But then VorpX still doesn't hook into the game so my guess is the 64bit version is required for VorpX to hook into GTA V.
