Just wanted to let everyone know that Microcenter is now stocking the Vive in all their stores as of yesterday. Many of them sold out, but a number of locations still have them in stock (at least in Maryland). I assume they'll be getting quick restocks, since the Vive shipping time now seems to be less than a week from your order date. I was very tempted to pick one up myself when I saw, but it would be useless until I can get my hands on a new GTX 1000 series card :/.

Also, for anyone who lives around Northern VA, the Tysons Corner Microsoft store has a Vive demo setup, even though it isnt on the official demo location list.

Someone from evga implied there won't be a shortage of FE cards. Should be pretty easy to get one this week.

$800-$970 (cad) for an evga model at NCIX. With taxes that is $1130 before shipping for the higher priced card ...... are these not also the slower of the models coming out ie. Ti versions which will again be more expensive.. . . . . . ouch!!

+ 1 I'll take a 1080 with a better cooling solution & power management system at a lower price than the FE.

Irony is I have always gone for ther vanilla version as it's the cheaper version.

Plus I usually want waterblock compatability out of the gate as well.

Mind you I shall wait for 1080ti this round and get a decent (non-squealing) card this time as well.

same here. usually get reference coolers because their cheaper...now it's other way around...makes zero sense.

Something tells me the 1080 is the new 680: it looks so fast being the first mid-size die on a new process node,
but eventually became boring/slow in a year.

Just look at gtx 680 now, it's crap performance now, at least the 780 Ti is okish..... but now the announced RX 480 pretty much made
every GPU below the perf level of the RX 480's value go kaput on used market. $150 or less on every GPU below GTX 970/r9 290 performance level, or "VR-Ready" level.

AMD stating the RX 480 as "VR Ready" is already obvious to what perf it is.

All i'm saying is... the FE $700 1080 is a fool's GPU. Better to wait for big-die GPUs for $550-600 from AMD's Vegas or big die Pascal.

The 680 was a good card at the time. The 2GB vram hurt it a lot eventually.

I was able to sell my 980ti for the same price I paid for it. So no card right now so I have to get something soon. I know what you are saying though, I'm not fond of small dies either. I could buy a 1070 which is a side-grade (plus VR features) and wait for big Pascal, that would probably be the most economical route. But the extra 20-30% perf I could have would irk me, lol. It would make it much easier if AMD would hurry up and release their big chip already.

Congrats! Time to enjoy some E:D. biggrin.gif

That's what I've gotten back into lately. Though, I still find myself questioning why I play at times. At least it's still super enjoyable in VR.
