Man, this Lab update... I can't believe it was free too. I used to replay the long bow demo non stop.

Anyone playing ED and using voiceattack? My mic works everywhere but voiceattack doesn't hear anything..

Its another 3 years if you want 4k hmds, I'm not waiting that long.

They already render the current resolution of 2160x1200 by 1.4x supersampling to account for distortion caused by the stretching of the screen to account for your eyes. And do it at 90 Hz refresh rate.

There is no 4K HMD to be feasible considering this, not until we have like gtx 1280 Ti.

4K is almost four times the current number of pixels. If Pascal works out like Nvidia says, and there is 2x the perfomance, we might get the rest of the way there with VR SLI (one card per eye)? All these options are available with Pascal now, but games first have to be designed for it and two 1080's are going to be expensive. I'm not waiting for a 4k headset.

Definitely could not wait for 4K. Consumer versions are out now. If you love tech, its the hardware to get right now. The great thing about VR, and especially room-scale with hand tracking is you have these new type of gaming experiences never had before, or even thought of. Its very cool. I still like my 1440p 120 IPS monitor, but i would say its rarely getting used for gaming now, maybe 10% of gaming time. Might change when BF1 comes out. As far as content, there are currently 252 applications listed for the Vive right now on Steam. Yes most of them are short games, that are priced accordingly. But i like those short action packed games in VR, im not the type of person that likes to spend 6-8 hrs in VR in one sitting. Plus you geta wide variety of new experiences.

Adding to those 252 experiences, there's non-Steam protos, demos, and weird crap.

I made a Reddit post and package, here:

Do I have you added on E:D? If not, I believe I am CMDR Maddhamster. We can VR it up. Well, at some point we can since I'm in the US. What have you tried so far?

Cmdr Thomas Riker

had to do a fresh install of Windows 10 (my upgrade always was a bit flacky)

so I am reinstalling stuff atm. Give me a couple of hours.

OK, initial impressions of the Oculus Rift. (90 minutes in)

Astounding. Incredible and amazing.

So far I have done nothing of significance (Henry / Dreamdeck / Oculus home) and I am already blown away.

I know some people struggle with presence, but I have it in Oculus Home. It's fracking spectacular.

Sweet spot is huge, I can literally look anywhere in the image and it's clear. Resolution is workable for text (just) and very good in apps. Screen door I can't detect.

Godrays are a thing in loading screens, but hardly noticeable in game.

Installation was a breeze. No dead pixels, no stuck pixels, no red tint.

More later.

Ok, yeah I do have you on my friends list. The time difference means I'm probably rarely on when you are.

That's what I did when I first got my CV1. They're good to start with, just to get an idea of what's different. You had a DK2 as well before like me, right?
