You do NOT have to only use the rift store...There is a setting within the Rift software that you check. Its called something like "Allow unknown sources" similar to an android phone to allow things to be installed to it outside of Google Play.

I had a copy of Project Cars before the Rift came out...I launch Project Cars OUTSIDE of the rift store and it goes to my Rift as if I did launch it through the rift store. Also by using vorpX, I have been able to get games such as World of Warcraft and a few others that it supports to work in VR without touching the Oculus Store.

So sad actually.

I will buy a PS4Neo and PSVR combo but cant see that being sold in Turkey before feb 2017.

I wish I had not canceled my pre order for Rift few months back.

Well keep on the lookout for an email from Oculus. I was suppose to get my Rift between July 11-22nd according to their website...I got an email about 2 weeks ago asking me to make sure all my shipping and payment stuff was updated...As soon as I confirmed everything, my Rift shipped 2 days later. I got my rift last Monday, which was about a month earlier than expected!!!!

you still need oculus home open to even use the thing... and as I said some games are not on steam or aren't yet like edge of no where etc where you have to buy through home.

You are right that OH launches, but you don't have to buy stuff through it and you can launch everything via Steam OH just sits there in the background waiting for you to do something.

I don't buy that for a second. The steam numbers are fairly accurate IMO.

Why would a rift user not install steam? You tied the amount of cv1 sets to shipped dk2 units... What store did dk1 and dk2 users use? If you had a dk, you would have to use steam or you would have to rebuy all your games.

To my knowledge, the dk2 numbers are speculation too.

Over the past month or two, /r/vive generally has more than double the amount of online users at any given time compared to /r/oculus. That's no small feat considering how long the dev kits have been around. During the time of preorders, this was the opposite.

Because they don't have to??

DK2 numbers are accurate. OLD NEWS I don't just pull this stuff out of my arse you know.

Rift sold 6 months of production BEFORE THE VIVE WAS LAUNCHED!!!!! Who cares what the internet traffic is like for the last month???

on the other hand, I couldn't give a baboons backside what xxxxhurt Vivers think anymore.

Seriously sick and tired of lies lies and more lies.

I am calling it here. Rift outsold Vive 3 to 1 minimum.

think what you like.

I use a Rift CV1 and absolutely hate using SteamVR. I launch my steam games that support VR without touching SteamVR. I prefer to just launch things like Project Cars normally then throw my headset on once the game loads. Once you ever use Oculus Home then see what a jumbled mess SteamVR is, you will never use it again. Its WORSE and more clunky than the big picture mode that nobody uses because its so bad.

From first hand experience, I can guess that the stats will be skewed because SteamVR is awful and not needed for a Rift user.

quick question not related to gaming,

does anyone know of any kind of 3D user interface for windows itself? basically an unlimited resolution (depending on how far you zoom into the view) GUI with the "start bar" appearing as a HUD element rather then static location. kinda like multi monitor support but seamless and 360 degrees wide to take advantage of current available hardware.

i'm looking at this more from a productivity point of view where let's say you'd normally have email on one monitor, a browser on another monitor and maybe another productivity type software(let's say adobe something) on another monitor etc. instead of having 3 monitors, you'd just navigate all withing the VR environment by turning your head left and right etc...

thanx in advance for any help you guys can provide.

Time doesn't matter. Number of units matter. That means nothing if they're producing 50 units days. The general consensus in the VR community is that HTC has way more experience producing electronics. They could be producing 100x more units for all we know.

Public interest does matter. Reddit is the top VR community/hotspot on the internet right now. It's just logical to follow trends in the public's interest. If you have 1 person looking at product x and 10 people looking at product y, which one will sell more?

I really could careless about the the exclusives and oculus. Let them pay developers to make games for VR. Everyone seems to forget about Revive. Revive is the prime reason to why their closed system will never work. I can play Edge of Nowhere right now if I wanted to buy it on the home. There are too many ways around it without owning the other hardware and operating systems. I think they're going to add all other headsets eventually.

The only thing I have on SteamVR is BigscreenBeta. Because it's a SteamVR exclusive........
