P6T Deluxe V2 & 8GB Dimm ???

Thread Starter
Hello everyone!

Quick and simple question. Will an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 recognise a single 8GB dimm? I am not interested in any dual or triple channel setups, I just want to upgrade a 3GB(3x1) system. That's all!

Thanks in advance for any help, and have a Happy New Year!!! wink.gif

Unfortunately, no. Each slot supports up to 4 GB. The motherboard supports up to 24 GB in total, 4 GB per slot. Confusingly, the manual says that it only supports 1 and 2 GB modules per slot, but then how would you get 24 GB with 6 x 2 GB?

Superior performance is had with a triple-channel setup on a triple-channel motherboard.

Ok! The manual did give me a headache about the 1,2GB dimms. So, I thought since you can have a 4GB dimm, you could also go for a 8GB one. I guess it is going to be a dual or triple channel with a combination of 4GB sticks.

Thanks a lot! thumb.gif

There are people who tried 48GB on X58 without a hitch, Did run 3X8GB on a X58 Sabertooth but that was quite a while ago.
Meanwhile, not sure if I can hotlink info from other forums but it did say that someone got 48GB working on a P6T Deluxe V2
But YMMV.
I would say keeping it to a 4GBX2 Config would at least not hamper memory performance too much, even if it doesn't matter that much.

It appears that ASUS made a mistake and left out "and 4GB" on that page. heh
