Probably why I felt the G302 felt slightly more responsive than G303
post #13 of 27
huh? how does this relate to g303 in any way...

It explains why I felt the G302@400 dpi in software had a faster first pixel movement than the G303@400 dpi. I think I said that in the G303 thread. maybe Im not crazy biggrin.gif

k sry trism for hijacking thread but

g402 writes 0x3d to register 0x3d at dpi's >= 2080
and 0x3c to register 0x3d at dpis <= 2000.

so there you go, the lowest bit of that register controls smoothing for pmw3320/am010

but wait what???????

in g100s boot sequence (full log here http://pastebin.com/DDhh4b3N):
315610.60 11.40 0xbd 0x00
315621.40 10.80 0x3c 0x00

it's writing 0x3c to 0x3d. so g100s has smoothing off? wait wat

kkkkkkkkk

when switching to a dpi <=2000
g402 writes the dpi to register 0x33, 0x10 to register 0x16, and 0x3c to register 0x3d

when switching to a dpi >=2080
g402 writes the dpi to register 0x33, 0xf0 to register 0x16 and 0x3d to register 0x3d

so registers 0x16 and 0x3d control smoothing. maybe 0x16 controls the amount and 0x3d toggles it.

in g100s boot:
0x3c is written to register 0x3d
0xf0 is written to register 0x16

k my guess was wrong. g402 does indeed write a different value to the registers for every actual dpi step. see spreadsheet for info

actual dpi step = (number represented by lowest 6 bits of register 0x33) * (250/3)

How do you know, link? I've reported this issue the first time over a year ago and probably done it 3-4 times now never receiving any answers.

I just hope they won't go past the 0x0F and take the newest one since that's the one that caused all the problems in Rival 300. Steelseries reverted back to the 0x0F.
