2 980s arnt in the budget atm.

I don't have any personal experience with 960s to share on the matter so I would listen to others who are more into heavy gaming. If you want my thoughts though, If I had to decide I would take the single 980 without question and save for another 980 later. I'm sure there are some scenarios where SLI 960s will top a 980 likely with AA off but that's probably the exception and not the rule, the 980 has significantly more memory bandwidth (that should include the 4gb 960s as well which I believe are 128 bit) and would be more capable of handling things like Anti-aliasing. Also, a second 980 later will absolutely terrorize the pair of 960s where if you go sli 960s you'll need to replace them both to do much better.

Just my thoughts on it. Also, if you're using 1920x1080 or lower at 60hz, just get the single 980 and be done with it until you grab a higher res monitor. There are zero games I can think of that a 980 paired with a 4690k isn't going to handle at 1080P with ease.

So 980 now, save for a 1440P (or 4k if that's your thing) monitor, then get a second 980 probably at a discount price after you have a new monitor so you can actually use the benefits from having 2 980s.Or if you can save a little longer maybe just work towards one 980Ti biggrin.gif

Also for another twist of fate to bring AMD back into the equation, R9 390 (non X) in cfx will also out perform SLI 960s by miles and only cost as much as SLI 970s, provided you can handle the power draw from them. I'll leave this to other folks to chime in though.

I can get 2 r9 390's for a little more than the price of 1 gtx 980.

Ive never been a fan of Radeon stuff.. lol. But it looks like a decent card, so i guess i can get 2 and crossfire them.

Im in the middle of it all, I like amd cpu's, but Nvidea(intel) GPU's

Understood, though Nvidia isn't related to Intel, Nvidia is Nvidia. Honestly though AMD really impressed me with the 7950, 7970, 280x, 290/390. In terms of performance per dollar, the only thing I would really buy over CFX 390s is a single 980Ti for much lower power use, not having to worry about whether or not the game supports CFX/SLI and waiting on driver support that takes a long time, and it's just ridiculously fast. Compared to SLI 960s though the 390s will be WAY faster and more capable at 1440P.

Ordered my CPU, and picked it up today. I put it together(mobo, cpu, and ram) and tried it on a test bench. I was deffinetly surprised to see that the bottom corner is lined with led's.

And this BIOS is AMAZING, compared to the old plain pheonix bios.

Also i got WIN 10 installed on my SSD. I half partitioned it, cause i plan to install Steam OS along side windows, and mabey ubuntu. And grub it all.

Well, its all in a temp case and running good. I already had to replace a used hdd i had in it. The transfer rate was all messed up, and it would just fall out randomly. So now i have a spinpoint along side my ssd.

Currently im on the onboard graphics, they are pretty respectable for onboard.

Overall, Im alot happier. Now i need to get my ram ordered, I just have a 2gb stick i had laying around in it, and im maxing it out like its nothing.
