The DX11 vs DX12 benchmarks posted a few posts up are... interesting. I ran both back to back on my setup with the same graphical settings at 4k, and while DX12 scored higher, it was only by around 10% or so. Maybe a pair of Titan X cards are fast enough that the game becomes CPU bottlenecked and DX12 can really stretch its legs and take advantage of that?

As far as actual game play goes, I switched from DX11 to DX12 early on in the first level while climbing an ice wall to see if there was a performance difference. When I loaded back into the game in DX12 I was getting the same 40 fps, but everything felt sluggish. Like my actual frame rate was more in the 20s. The famed "microstutter" with SLI possibly? Anyone else have a similar experience?

Anyway, I'm not sure what I find more impressive: how freakin good this game looks, or how demanding it is. I never thought a Tomb Raider game would be 100% utilizing a pair of 1070s clocked in at 2ghz and only delivering 30-40 fps in game play. I put in a solid 6 hours yesterday and the graphics continue to impress me. I'm enjoying the actual game, but it's nothing particularly special. Certainly not a game I'd be happy I paid $30 for based on game play alone, but it's a real visual treat.

Bought this game during the Steam sale and so far it's been a buggy mess. My game keeps crashing to desktop and I can't figure out why. I'm on the latest NVidia drivers (375.95) which were installed after running DDU for a clean install. I'm running everything at stock frequencies and voltages. I've disabled Steam in-game overlay and cloud syncing, verified integrity of game cache, but that hasn't helped either. This is super frustrating...I can't pinpoint exactly what's causing the crashes. Sometimes it happens during gameplay, sometimes it's cutscenes or those quick-time animations when you assassinate a guard, it even happened one time when I picked up one of those voice recording things. Not sure what the hell is going on...

This is the only game that's giving me trouble. Even other super intensive games like TW3 run completely fine.

Haven't played long, but I've not had any problems here so far. I can get about 60 FPS average with my R9 280X on DX 12 using the internal benchmark tool, ever so slightly less on DX11, running the game on High preset.

Already love the game too. The graphics look gorgeous... and it seems pretty action packed, which I liked.

Just started the game. I don't remember last time when I was so impressed with game's visuals, I think in 2015 playing The Witcher 3. ROTTR looks absolutely stunning. It has better and worse moments of course, but under good lighting and in good place, it can look absolutely amazing. But where the game is the best are character models. How Lara looks... I haven't seen characters looking this perfect and I am spending half of my life playing games. In terms of gameplay I am also having a great time. It has all kinds of things to do, exploring, action, combat, stealth, puzzles. Mechanics are great, everything you do in game seems well thought. Story wise it is also very interesting even though I don't have a clue about Tomb Raider in general. This game is just so engaging that I cannot stop looking at it and playing. One drawback is horrible CPU optimization, game is obviously not using any sensible amount of cores and I sometimes have trouble maintaining 60 FPS even on my mighty system. But GPU wise game is very well optimized, my 1080s are generally bored for 99% of a time even on max settings, rarely exceeding 70% usage. So far I am impressed, really, if not those performance issues I would be amazed.

This game in 4k@60fps is AMAZING, one of the most beautiful games of this generation, would be even better if they had bringed HDR as they've promissed, a real shame, cause HDR is awesome!

Agreed. Rise of the Tomb Raider is the best looking PC game so far. Bold statement, yes.

Make sure to play in DX11. VXAO (only available in DX11 rendering path) is a great improvement over HBAO+.

I think so too, but most people say that difference is small and doesn't justify high performance cost. I don't quite get that, difference is very noticeable and performance cost is not high at all, like usual graphic setting.

I am playing Tomb Raider (2013) now. Not as good looking obviously and some things like some animations and how Lara looks are noticeably worse, but still the game is impressive visually, SSAA really works great in this game, image quality is just as good as it can be. Getting something like this in 2013 had to be amazing. I don't know that because I started serious gaming in like 2015.

Didin't knew that, gonna try it later. Right now i'm having a annoying issue with the new build of windows 1703 (creators edition), the HDR goes nuts when i install the driver, HDR is on all the time, and even if i change it or disable, i can't play any game, the screen goes pink, sometimes green, and then it runs on a black screen forever... So as soon as i fix this i'll see ROTR in those configs.

Mass Effect Andromeda, even with all the issues has some amazing graphics, unbelievable how good it looks with HDR on, one of the best looking graphics so far, shame they released it too soon, could be one of the best games if they had delayed it for a year or so.
