How do you figure? The fastest AMD card when TR came out was the 7970. The fastest AMD card now is the Fury, not the 290X.

HD 7970 had more than 1 year in the market when TR 2013 came out. Fury has about 6 months. Also who gives a dam. TR 2013 just ran better than this games. Does not matter then fps. I am not play Very High settings. I am playing High.

Game crashed my PC 2 times today. Not sure what is going on. When it tried to come back it would not and gave me some atixx. error. Had to go to recovery and cancel recover each time to get it to boot.

At the very least, TR 2016 has CPU bottlenecks and load lag issues unlike TR 3013, and CFX suffers due to said reasons. Both of which can be avoided with better coding.

Frankly, it's horrible. I had to resort to turning off crossfire on my R9 295X2 and use one GPU. This is a less than optimal experience. I am not sure what crossfire profile AMD released, but it sure as **** doesn't work properly in this game.

Everythings fine until I hit the Soviet base. CPU limitation and load lag is the name of the game in that area! I too disabled CFX.

I've had some bad scaling in SLI further into the geothermal valley (50% game completion mark). CPU is about 70% usage and GPUs stay roughly around 70% as well. FPS drops all the way down to 40FPS in some areas. FPS and scaling jump back up to acceptable levels when I'm in enclosed areas such as tombs or if I fast travel to areas outside of the valley. Am I the only one experiencing this with SLI? I don't think it's my CPU bottlenecking, but maybe it is?

It is the CPU. The game is very "single threaded" dependant in that area. This reduces the scalability of multi GPU's, causing a performance bottleneck. In tombs and other locations, there is less CPU time allocated and more dependancy on the GPU's, hence the better scaling. This is because of poor programming. They likely had DX12 in mind to overcome these limitations because it's hard to efficienty program good multi core usage in the DX11 API. Why they stopped the DX12 version, we can only speculate.

This makes me sad. I had to downgrade CPU coolers for my new case and spent upgrade money on another GPU instead of an i7. Is this bottleneck an issue with game/ engine optimization?
