Creative 11.1 / 15.2 ATMOS Soundbar $5,000

Seriously? To debut in 2016 is this sleek looking enthusiast ATMOS Soundbar w/sub currently on sale for the first 100 units going for only $1,750. It does look nice, but the woofers are not $5,000, not even close. I can't find the 11 speakers on the single soundbar, can you?

I have a 5.1.4 Klipsch Ref II 5 1/4 woofers and Yamaha AX A3040 Aventage ATMOS setup I customized to my room design. This X-FI Sonic Carrier could not even hold a candle to my current setup and is exaggeratedly priced at $5,000 retail to debut in Fall of 2016. It does look nice though grouphug.gif

For 4K, the 3050 is the newest and best option. The 3040 is good for 4K too, just missing some recent features. I have my 3040 using a 75" 1080P Samsung smart tv and Samsung Bluray player. My speakers for atmos are setup high in the front and back and not in the ceiling (but touching next to the ceiling). I've tested atmos with Expendable 3 bluray with uncompressed sound and it works very theater like. That movie has a scene where they have a skyscraper going from the front end of the screen, over your head and exiting in the back. Atmos worked brilliantly with the overhead effect as was the epitome of what atmos is for me personally. The scene atmos takes advantage of - are not many - but they are brilliant when they are processed. I like the soundstage of Yamaha better than Denon, but not better than Onkyo. I haven't bought Onkyo since they decided to be through-a-ways. If you're on a budget and don't need the udated features of the 3050 before your next upgrade, the 3040 is a good choice. It depends on how you upgrade AVR's and what-is-what for your entire house. I personally have three AVR's in rotation and I just downgrade them one at a time and give away or abandon the lesser AVR going out.

FYI, I attempted to respond to this thread several times days ago, but the OCN Forum Ad's kept giving script errors after typing a short period of time.

Interesting, I guess I have to see which Onkyo is equivalent to the 3040/3050 since I'm more into music than movies

Anyone spending over $300 on speakers, etc. shouldn't get a sound bar, imho.

And why do the prices get higher the more they sell? Is this anti-capitalism?

They're probably using the model that people use on Kickstarter. You think you're getting a deal, so you really want to buy it now since it'll be more expensive when it's release.

Some good questions. What about this system is so good that it costs over $1700? I like some of Creative's higher end sound cards like the Titanium HD. But sound bars have always been more of a "cheap" solution for replacing TV speakers in my view.

I think anything near those prices I would much rather be setting up a custom home theater type system than a sound bar.

Yeah, especially when a large company like Creative does this. I can't believe how shady business practices from the late 1800s and early 1900s are making a comeback.

I think the reason a lot of the "Atmos" sound bars are priced so high is that "dumb" people see that it has like 15 speakers in it so, "lol it has so many speakers. Only $2400? That's a bargain with that many speakers."
