They weren't even Pascal chips though. They were Maxwell's AFAIK...

That is of course a lie.
They didn't ask. They demanded, forcefully, because it is not fair for nvidia to withhold any technology information regarding pascal and not give it for free to everyone, like gameworks rolleyes.gif

The lie was what was shown on the stage. As for gameworks, nvidia does give it for free, don't lose the narrative that quickly.

This is a thinly veiled half truth, NVidia PAYS for companies to use Gameworks. Now I am not talking about actually cash in hand but think about this. Gameworks gives a series of libraries pre=configured and ready to go. This reduces the cost and resource demands of the developer, thus meaning he make the game with a less direct cash output for time and effort. NVidia then throws a ton of free marketing in for the game as it is a Gameworks title. Again the dev and publisher are getting a huge financial benefit as the PR savings from this are fairly large. They would spend quite a bit more to achieve the same level of PR on their own.

So the next time someone says NVidia does not pay devs to use Gameworks think about this and realize the lie for what it is.

So the PR AMD did on ashes, on battlefront, battlefield, hitman, deus ex, tomb raider, etc etc, they never existed?
Both companies will promote anything using their tech, relentlessly.

On the same note, you can say that a developer is paying nvidia for the promotion, and instead of paying in cash, they pay in time using nvidia tech instead of just using the default libraries of their choice of game engine.
Overall both benefit from using tech.

Sadly, it exists for us, but for the general public, not so much.

Promoting an association is quite a different thing altogether from Gameworksifying a title.
