I see what you are saying here with regards to the stagnation on the 28nm node but I really disagree that manufacturer process alone defines new technology. Maxwell, for instance, was a major performance improvement over Kepler due to architecture changes alone. Doesn't matter to me that they accomplished that without changing nodes; in fact I think it is all the more impressive because of it (now pricing, OTOH, has been far less impressive). Of course, as you say we will see some massive improvements going to FF this next generation...

Psyched enough for this that I sold my two 290s, and ordered a 380X, which I will use until big die Polaris is available (at a reasonable price).

I hope it's not a huge letdown (i.e. 64 ROPs like Fury X).

I also hope I don't have to wait till the middle of 2017 for them to be affordable.

I plan to get two of whatever the 290 equivalent is (or Fury equivalent)... that is, not the absolute best card but the little brother, right underneath it in the tier. Here's hoping the performance difference is around the 10% or so difference between 7950 and 7970, 290 and 290X, Fury and Fury X.

For as long as we have been on that node, I would expect them to basically have it figured out. The performance gains of Maxwell were kind of expected, due to that looong maturity.

Probably just rebrands. I know AMD seems to somehow actually have it together with Polaris, but I don't think they have it THAT together to pull off an April launch.

The same way the HD Rx 2xx series had the low-end cards be re-brands of previous generations?

Still can't believe there's no leaks on NVidia's side yet.

These next few months will be a whole new world of graphical power.
Can't wait to see the top end from both.

You can't leak anything if you don't have anything to leak.

First time I've seen NVidia missing in action.

Yup, these are mobile parts we are talking about here. It could be just about anything and get a new part no. designation.
