Should I wait for Pascal? - Page 7

of course you can regret not buying something. think of ppl who wanted a 290X 8GB but decided to wait for 390X. 980Ti has enough superlatives to be 99% sure you'll not regret it. Waiting for Pascal can however turn out to be beneficial, Pascal might have better price/performance ratio or might just affect 980Ti prices.
Also, lol at the guy who said he's got 760 running 1440p 144hz gsync and with OC on the card and a few settings turned down he's got the same experience as people who buy high end cards. I'm not doubting the fact that your gaming experience is more what you make it than your hardware price, but there are exceptions....

If you got a large resolution I would wait. We know without a doubt next gen cards are going to have more memory. If not just go for the 980 and wait for prices to drop on next gen.

really better to go for 390X 8GB than 980 if running high resolution. Dx12 and async and low level api and all that noise...

I just my computer this weekend and couldn't be happier. Build it! Don't wait!

Yeah. This "waiting for xxxxxx" crap is just that, crap. Jump in now unless you are literally days away from a guaranteed launch date.

Hmm but for me I'd rather also save up a bit more because then instead of going for a 970, I could go for a 1080 instead, if that makes any sense? (Given that I'm building this in July)

If you're not building until July, my advice would be to not buy anything until then.

Waiting half a year for new cards to come out tells me that gaming is not a priority for you.

I suppose it shouldn't be as I have school, and I tend to focus just on one thing. Having a gaming computer would be the final nail in the work-coffin.

Then my Birthday is July and they won't allow me one until then anyway frown.gif

I'm in the same dilemma. Get a dual 980ti setup or wait for GP100 SLI? At the moment the triple 660ti's are holding up well for most games with 1620p to 2140p on ultra, except for maybe Witcher 3. But folding really depresses me as even a triple setup can't even reach half the PPD as a single 980. And when VR finally kicks off...
