Same thing happened to me this week, first time I had played since the last patch. Tried a variety of fixes, including setting GPU back to stock clocks, but to no avail. Last night, however, I played for ninety minutes with no issue, not exactly sure what I did to fix the issue. But my best guess is 1) I moved the game folder back to my SSD and imported it into the GOG client, thereby re-downloading some files or 2) redid some of the tweaks in various .settings files that had been undone by the last patch, specifically those related to queue sizes, texture memory budget, etc.

Hopefully, I can now overclock my GPU again as I had found the game to my rock solid with my GTX 970 at 1.5GHz.
