yes only thing is you loose sata 5 and 6 but there are plenty of other ports. I went with an adapter. Gc Extreme, and Enzotech BMR-C1-LE heat sink's for temporary my perminent solution should arrive by next Friday as it's already on it's way stateside. Aqua Computer Kryo M.2 in nickel

Okay. Thanks for the information. I'd still like to hear from anyone actually trying to use M.2 and two GPU's what your experience was.

I don't need many SATA connections anyways. I only have a SSD and HDD right now. I'd just want to add that M.2 for fast storage/games and such.

Would I be able to run two GPU's and an M.2 SSD? So, two PCIe 3.0 at x8, and the M.2 runs at PCIe 3.0 x4. Is that possible on this CPU/board?

I'm running 2x GPUs at x8 and a 512GB 950 PRO M2 at x4 in the M2 slot without issue in my Deja Vu build.

Boot time is around 40 secs from a full cold boot but the majority of time is pre post delay (>30s) due to memory training... Once the mobo posts, booting into Win10 takes around 6 to 8 secs max.

Glad to hear. Last question, is, would this board an an i7-6700K bottleneck a 960 Pro? The 960 Pro supposedly gets up to almost 3,400 mbs, but, I believe it's still only PCIe 3.0 x4.

No...

i7-6700K has 16 PCIe 3.0 lanes which are for graphics use only and operate in either 1x16 or 2x8 or [1x2 + 2x4] configuration.

The z170 chipset on the mobo has an additional 20 PCIe 3.0 lanes.

Each PCIe lane can handle a throughput of 985MB/s so using the M2 coonector will allow for 4 x 985MB/s which is higher than the 960's max rate.

So it should not be an issue.

I've never had anything buy quick and good customer service from ASUS, even regarding failures that were my fault. Before I knew much about PC's, I accidentally fried a board on my own by shorting it. I admitted it to them, but they went ahead and gave me a warranties replacement regardless.

That's good to hear, I've honestly never dealt with the their RMA before but the guy I was on the phone with was NoT helpful at all, and everything I've read online says it took months and multiple rmas from them sending DOA refurbs, but evga I've used before and they are awesome! Asus wanted me to plug my other Titan into that a slot and see if it worked, I was like hellllllll no... It already fried 1 $1500 video card (when I bought them) I'm not plugging another one in are u nuts!? So now they want me to wait until Tuesday and they will get back to me, how hard is it to give me an address to send this burnt thing back to and send me a new one frown.gif
Edit- stupid auto correct lol
Well asus got back to me today and was very apologetic and seems to want to resolve be issue quickly so I guess I should not have judged their customer service solely on google reviews 😳

Couldn't stand the Gigabyte Gaming 7 board so I sold that rig and decided to make a new one. My GTX 1070 FTW should be in on Monday!
