ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Formula Owner`s Thread! - Page 20

Hi

HELP needed please!!!

I have started to build my fresh new PC. I've installed the CPU and DDR4 to the motherboard. I've connected the chassis fans and CPU cooler. Then I've connected connected the power unit to the mobo.

Next was time for testing if all the fans were working properly before continuing the build.

When I switch on the power unit, the mob lights keep blinking and changing colours. When I press start button nothing happens. Fans and cooler does not seem to have any power. The power unit fan does not spin at all.

I've separately tested the power unit (EVGA Supernova 850 P2) and it works fine!
I've connected other power unit to the mobo and the behaviour is exactly the same.

I've no clue what can I do to fix this. Is the motherboard fried or something like that?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the stupid question: have you connected the 8-pin PSU-CPU power cable too? I'm asking because a couple days ago I lost a good 10 minutes trying to figure out the same exact issue rolleyes.gif

Yes, I did connect the PSU-CPU since I had already installed the CPU and cooler.

If the led lights are blinking the mobo gets power. There should be some led lights on the mobo that glow red to indicate whats wrong. Check for a red led then check the manual to see what is wrong. It can be cpu or memory issue.

When i did a cpu delid and put the system back together i got a red cpu led and no boot. I had to reseat the cpu and it worked.

@MTRINCA, can you connect everything, start it up and take a pic and post it here? Hard to help without visuals. Thanks! thumb.gif

Cold boot...when booting from a total power off condition.

Warm boot... when restarting say from Windows ie rebooting without switching power off.

The mobo handles memory retraining totally differently depending on how it boots..ie cold Vs warm etc.

Guys, can i turn off the red highlight LEDs on the VIII Formula board? Like in bios or something.

I want it to look exactly like this, pitch black: http://rog.asus.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/ROG-M8F-1.jpg

I'm not digging the red scheme.
