Whats a good 2 speaker system for around $100?

You should save up another $50 and get the klipsch promedia 2.1. I dont care what anybody says. Those things rock.

Back in high school i had the Logitech Z2300 for a simple audio solution and was very happy with the sound it put out, plus it had some serious bass for a 2.1 system with a true 8" sub which was important to me.
I haven't heard anything from them since then, but if they kept with their roots in a sense, I'd think those you linked should sound good enough until you decide to upgrade over time.

In regards to the comments on $1000+ systems, sure everyone would probably like to have the top of the line on everything, but that's not realistic unless you are in the 1%.
Some times it is better to spend your money and have a lot of good enough things than to have a really amazing single item and nothing else because you ran out of cash.

Also, not everyone will be listening to the highest quality music and subscribing to high end services or purchasing FLAC content.
Or perhaps the music choice doesn't benefit from the highest quality stuff. I would never personally listen to it, but people that listen to that screamo type music probably dont need $120,000 KEF Muons.

I am sure some are passionate about certain areas and try to lend some expertise, but it doesn't always fit in especially when a budget is listed and not followed.
Maybe comment briefly on why it isn't the best idea, but also try and be constructive about it or mention it may be wise to prepare for a upgrade sooner than later.

This whole, I want to spend X dollars on Y item and someone blows the budget out and says no get this instead can be applied to everything.
Say I want a decent sports car for $25,000 so I am considering a Mustang. People cant just come in a say, oh that car is garbage, save up and get a $140,000 Nismo GTR instead you wont believe the difference, try out a friends to understand what i mean.

I'd think most people might have a few items they splurge on or get the best, but most things they just want whatever gets them by because it has to fit into their budget otherwise we would have 1 super nice item and absolutely no other possessions.

As a Z506 owner I say don't do it..

Have no experience with the other set up mentioned, but the 506's aren't very good at all....

Even the cheaper Z313's do a better job, the Z333's are a rather noticeable improvement over both.

At that price point the best sound you will get will likely be through cheap studio monitors like the M-AUDIO AV32

Or if you shop around a little or chuck in another $20 the Presonus Eris E4.5 which would be my number one suggestion.

Actually, yes, I pulled the trigger on the AverMedia Ballista Unity. They provide what I was looking for and a price that was within budget. With them set at 50% volume & the sub at 50% with input from my computer at 25% they can be heard 2 rooms away. From my seating position with same settings they have a 60db reading on a db meter.

My thanks to those who did answer my OP with helpful info! Those that actually helped got rep. smile.gif

Thanks for getting back to me.

I unfortunately could never purchase those as they are are extremely unsightly in my opinion. Too bad they don't have a less aggressive "gamer" looking set.

Yea, they do have an aggressive look. Funny thing is their look actually matches my HAF X case smile.gif

Are you available to send me some suggestions? My budget is $150 and I'd prefer a half decent Subwoofer in the mix.

Much appreciated!
