Currently on an old Pent Duo @ 2.8ghz. 4gb ram, and a gts 250(1gb).

After banging my head against the wall figuring out which way to go, I finally pulled the trigger on a Asus z97-PRO Gamer. And im going to be ordering a 4690k.
Then will be ordering a kit of 16gb(2x8) Vengeance 2400mhz DDR3.

3 setups I was looking at are.

1. Asus Formula V w/ fx-8350k
2. Asus z97-Pro gamer w/4690k or 4790k
3. Asus Z170-Pro Gamer w/ 6600k.

Gpu setup is still up in the air... Eventually want to run SLI.

And Whichever processor i go with, it will be OC'ed on water.

I would go for the 6600k and z170 chipset. That setup will last you just as long as your C2D did!

I went around for about a week between the 3 setups, and everyone said the cost-to-performance difference wasn't worth it between the 4690k and the 6600k. So I went with the 4690k and Asus z97-Pro Gamer.

Anyways, I have a new cooler haha, the stock intel one wasn't keeping up. Mabey if I used the taller stock cooler it would have been better, but apparently they only send the lo-pro ones anymore.

Ive had my pc for a couple of weeks now, and ive been gaming atleast 6hrs a day, 5 days a week. And its been performing great, I havnt OC'ed it yet because of the cooler, but I set the fans to max and turned on Turbo and throttling, thinking it would be ok on temps. It was for the most part, EXCEPT for BF4. Ive logged 7 hours on bf4 off and on, and it ran great, but I never checked temps in game. And lately I hooked up a second monitor to watch temps and loads. And guess what?? In game(bf4), I would occasionally hit 80c at 50% load (turbo clock was 4.4 at the time). And I was like ****, so I exited bf4. And turned off turbo in bios. After that it was a lot safer only hitting about 65c.

Anyways, I knew a buddy had a big nactua cooler that he hadn't ever used, and he wanted it gone, So I scored a nactua nh-d14 for 20$ smile.gif (win!!).
And it basically cut my temps in half(even with turbo on), and I have the fans on silent mode, compared to 100% like I had the other fans.

I think I scored pretty good.

Also, all temps are in an open case, No side panel, and no case front(the whole front is a vent).
