It makes it harder for people to believe what they are being shown and lose trust in the developers and the publishers, it's especially not a good look when a company has a track record for doing this to their games. It leaves people disappointed, underwhelmed and they also lose trust as-well.

There's many reasons why games may not look as good as their reveal, some being the need to scale back things as they may be difficult to achieve or taxing on the hardware.

The game For Honor looks very good gameplay-wise and visually, but I have a hard time believing that the game is going to look as good as they've shown it when it releases. I could be wrong however, especially since people actually got to play the game so that game will probably be different from the past games released.

Was the 2013 trailer supposed to be a trailer for the game or more a trailer for the Snowdrop engine that was branded as being used for this game. I really remember all of them being truly snowdrop tech demos. Not division trailers.

EDIT: Also I don't think its necessarily bad that there are downgrades. If a developer sets out to create a game that looks like x but finds out they really can't get it to run properly on the majority of hardware. Do you all really think they should A) Cancel the game or B) wait to realease it until hardware catches up? I mean Id rather take lesser visuals and still get the game then either wait years or not get it. Now it would be nice if people were more open about it before it launches but that is a whole different story.

They were real gameplay showings where a guy actually used a PS4 controller to fake-play the game.

Yeah, I ended up googling it after I asked. I do see much better lighting effects but overall textures and graphics seem pretty similar to me. Either way I Edited my post saying I don't think visual downgrades in themselves are evil or bad.

Oh man, I saw this when it was first revealed, I don't remember seeing someone with a PlayStation 4 pad playing it but seeing that says alot.
I suppose they just had to scale it back, oh well.

IIRC, For Honor was playable at E3 so it will be very interesting to see how that game turns out.

I wouldn't say the visual downgrades are evil, just misleading.
The visuals are one of the things they used to drive the hype, alongside the gameplay, both had gamers salivating in anticipation.

Metal Gear Solid V and Assassin's Creed Unity pretty much look as good as when they were first revealed, among other games, however Assassin's Creed Unity was insanely demanding, even for the consoles it was designed to be run on, perhaps the whole concept of scaling it back was also due to how Assassin's Creed Unity performed on the consoles. But that could simply be due to the game being rushed as not only did it run poorly but it also had numerous bugs and glitches.

The Division being a multi-platform title across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC may also have been a factor, didn't have to optimize for one platform, but three different platforms and one of them being PCs which have a variety of different hardware setups.

The only thing i dont like about it is the dark zone, if you go in as a loner and you meet up with two others i find they shoot between themselves and go rogue then you get turned on, so really its shoot everything in sight, there is no such thing as non hostile.

I don't run into that, My problem is people are just stupid and when NPCs attack a extraction people run right in your line of fire and then start shooting you cause you attacked them cause they are retarded.

It's easy to avoid other people though, harassed a group of rouge agents from range and just used the cover system to out maneuver them. Dark Zone is pretty intense as a loner.

Actually not running any overclocks. This whole blue screen issue has been going on for a few weeks now on a bunch of different games. New Vegas, Skyrim, Blade and soul, Star trek Online (don't judge tongue.gif) and now the division, probably others but that's just off the top of my head. I just reformatted and went back to windows 7 see if that does anything.
