Nevermind I think i will still go with the 32" I am used to playing on the 27 inch dell which is slower. It should be an upgrade for me...

thanks curio for the great hands on. Was looking forward to reading your thoughts about the Dell, are you exchanging or just not bothering now? 32" seems to be the sweet spot for a 1440 for me right now due to me being an old fart 92ish ppi.

Ever thought about a ultrawide? I was looking to get a 27" Freesync so your hands on was great, but now wavering on a 34" ultrawide which is the same height as a 27". Umming and ahhing over LG 34UC88 or XF270HU - but lottery. Hmmm decisions, decisions.

My 980Ti, no DP1.3, AMD same thing.

Having a completed standard and having it integrated into hardware are two different things altogether.

I believe they are releasing cards that meet DP 1.4 specs and are 1.3 backwards compatible.

32" is really huge! it doesn't look like in the shop or somewhere, but when you are left alone with your monstrous 32" in dark room it's frightening laughingsmiley.gif Today I was in the shop to return monitors and I stand before 50" 4K TV and told myself that's it's all right. But in the showrooms there is too much light, monitors/TVs are not setup correctly and you are looking to some demo pictures, which looks amazing. But when you display just the desktop on 32" you have to turn your head to see what's in the corners. In the showrooms there is nothing important in the corners so it looks normal. But when you want to hit X to close the window, or look what time is it, or click on windows start menu, or change tab in browser - those are the actions that makes you to move your head.

and 92ppi is really too low today. I wrote that there is not much difference in clarity of picture between 109ppi (2560x1440@27") and 137ppi (3840x2160@32") because 109ppi is really nice and crisp. But 92 ppi will be IMHO pixelated.

And yes - I was also looking for the Dell because I wanted to see modern TN (I've got only 10 years old model), but I will believe all the reviews, that whatever is the quality, TN has always worse colors and contrast than IPS and only advantage I saw in TN was lack of IPS Glow. And because my Acer has almost no glow - I'm satisfied with it and will not buy anything else soon.

worried? of course, I am worried about my video card arriving DOA, my psu arriving DOA, and with all ips monitors, I am worried about it arriving with more then acceptable back light bleed, and uniformity issues. That's the thing about monitors, most of them are a gamble, look at asus rog 27" ips panel, look at the flickering issues with the benq 32" 4k monitor. The thing is, once your's didnt hit the marks, you should exchange it and hope to get a better one. This does not make the monitor a bad one, let me ask you this, if there were no issues, what do you think about the monitor?

I have this monitor as well and I would recommend one IF you get a good one. I went through 5 of them until I received one that didn't have either dead pixels, light bleed or terrible uniformity and banding. The one I have have finally has no defects. No bleed and good uniformity. Mine still flickers occasionally which I expected since it uses the same panel as the Benq BL3201PH. I also have the XB271HU but even though it has the higher refresh rate, I enjoy this one much more, even for gaming.

kool, damn 5 of them wth.gif well I live next to a micro center that sells them, so i plan on also buying till i get a good one, but i get to just drive and exchange, in fact i remember buying one of the korean monitors from them along time ago, and they let me plug it in to their service dept computer to test before making the drive all the way home.

As I have already written, then I like it. I just dislike the fact that I put down 1375USD for a monitor that I have to spend time on packing down and returning because of bad QC. I spend the extra money on stuff just to avoid this.

That you are fine with having to spend a lot of time sending monitors back until you get one that is good enough is OK. But I am not. I do not live near any place that has these in store so I have to order them from a webshop, wait 3 days for delivery, test it, tell them I want to send it back, wait 2 days for a return label, drive to the post office, send it back, wait 10 days for my money to be returned. Rinse and repeat. The other option is to send it in to repair at acer, but then I have to wait 2 weeks each time.

The other problem is that this was the only one in stock from the dealer I prefer. I am quite sure that this is the monitor that I want, but I am having trouble finding a way to get a perfect one.
