Acer XB321HK 4k 32" G-Sync Monitor - Page 21

ok, Thanks for the input. I just don't have the room for 32" right now, Seems like if your not going over 30"+ not worth getting 4k, 1440p is the best option.

What I was trying to do is being able to record in 4k with Shadowplay. I wonder if I could record in 4k with the DSR feature. Why I was looking at 4k Monitors.

I'm really torn between getting this or an ultra-wide Acer X34 or Asus PG348Q. I'm currently using the PG278Q ROG Swift TN panel 1440p one; going to sell it once I settle on a replacement.

I really like that the X34 being curved and ultra-wide is supposedly very immersive since I play a ton of rpg games like Dark Souls, Skyrim, Dragon Age etc..etc.. and dropping to 100hz wouldn't be as big of a change going from the 144hz ROG Swift as dropping all the way to 60hz. But at the same time 4K is calling me lol! And the extra height of the 32" XB321HK is nice as well.

Real tough decision, anybody here tried both that can give me some genuine overall feelings about them both?

I've not tried a 100hz ultrawide, but i have tried a 60hz one and its pretty sweet, and im sure its even better at 100hz and gsync, but the XB321HK is better i feel if you can appreciate the extra height of it as well as its better pixel density. If you dont play anything competitively then 60hz with Gsync is plenty. You'll also get extra desktop space if you need it for productivity.

That said i took delivery of my friends XB321HK that he had for a few months but recently upgraded to an OLED TV so i'm getting rid of it for him. I'll have pictures for it available tomorrow. I'll make sure to take accurate bleed/glow photos as well as check for any dead/stuck pixels or any other potential defects the panel may have. I'll ship to the lower 48 states only. If anyone is interested just PM me

Anyone else experiencing flickering issues during fullscreen playback in 4k, on Youtube? Only happens in Chrome, FF seems to work, and it looks like it doesn't happen with all 4k videos, just some. I'm not having issues in Firefox and not with resolutions below 4k.

After one day of use, I'm in love with this monitor, because reasons

  1. Thad god damn tiny text is still so incredibly sharp at 65cm away; much rooms nerdsmiley.png
  2. Had some eyestrain issues at first, but could resolve them by changing the monitor defaults to (I'm running Gnome btw):
    • Brightness: 14
    • Contrast: 58
    • Color Temp: Cool
    • Power LED: Auto Off (this is a multiverse sent)

and while that's really "cool", it looks great to my eyes (at least)
  3. Dear god I can't go back to 1200p for the third time smile.gif
  4. After making these adjustments, the blacks are very good. I notice very little glow, and the monitor's anti-glare coating seems to be a perfect compromise between clarity and sharpness
  5. These god damn wallpapers are so glorious in 4k, e.g. https://alpha.wallhaven.cc/wallpaper/397902

Pictures to flollow when I get a good camera
Let me know if you have any questions. A quick recap of the odyssey I went through with the four Acer XB321HK samples Amazon sent to me

  1. Back light bleed on the bottom right, large area
  2. Back light bleed on the upper left, large area
  3. Light back light bleed all over the place, clouds all over the place and one stuck stuck pixel in the central area
  4. Perfect back light, no bleed at all but one dead pixel on the upper right. Very little glow
I've found a XB321HK used at 800 bucks amazon warranty.
Do you think I could do the same iterative process you did without being stuck with the monitor they send me the first time? :/

I qould buy by a different amazon from my shipping place

The 60hz is kinda low coming from 144hz. Should I RMA or Sell/Replace with X34? I'm running a Single 980ti heavily OCed with good results.
I'm very confused about x34 and the XB321HK. They are both gorgeous but 4k seems not to be so spreadly supported...doh.gif

it's not a nuisance...it's a personal warranty you will get a working product if you are not able to buy in a close shop...
