I was thinking of this video camera for doing youtube video's

Thread Starter
This is the camera I have in mind: Canon Vixia HF R62 and comes with pretty much everything I can figure I might need, anything I might be missing? I think this would be a good starter kit.biggrin.gif

I own a couple of the Vixia cameras. You do get a lot of bang for the buck.

The camera itself is only $280 though, and I'm not sure that starter pack has enough extras to justify the costs. Look up some of the key things individually and see what they are. The high rate SD cards have come really down in price lately. You can probably get a much better tripod for a low price. I wouldn't get a non-canon hot-shoe mic just because their hot shoe interface is pretty proprietary.

The camera itself though is good for the money. If there's a beef with the VIXIA cameras, it's that the video is recorded in 2gb chunks. Usually the cameras will come with an Import Utility that automatically takes video either straight from the camera via USB or from the SD cards and merges them into a single file.
