Zen IPC up 40%. Nek minnut - clock speed down 40%... biggrin.gif

Seriously though, competition would be welcome.

Grim. But expected.

Personally I'm glad the stock is tanking, it's too early for the rise it had post Samsung announcement (as well as on a personal note, I didn't buy enough of it before, I need the next 5 months to pick up the pace), but this is certainly expected.

AMD had one big launch last year, and a bunch of rebrands. This and 1st quarter 2016 are guranteed to be rough because of this. 2nd quarter on is going to be very interesting.

The most unexpected thing they have going in their favor since the Samsung announcement, is it is likely they will wind up keeping their timelines. We always knew they'd have new product this year, as well as a new platform, but until Samsung entered the fray, we had no idea how they'd get all this stuff out.

The talent is certainly there (new archs from Koduri and Keller). The potential is there. But now with Samsung, for ONCE with AMD, the production and volume is now there. We can actually semi-believe these timelines, as they are now a priority in a major factory situation (and have been likely since Samsung and Global Foundries started sharing resources back in 2014).

2016 from May on, is gonna be very interesting for AMD. Especially if Nvidia really is having Pascal issues.

Doesn't AMD say every end of the year "don't worry! next year we are bringing new things!" and then they flop again?
It is getting old.

Of course, making new arch is easy.. You just need few people and 3 months.

I think thats WHY AMD got Jim Keller and Raja Koduri. Yes, JIm is OUT, but both came in 2012. So new arch @ Polaris, ZEN started developing.

They could rush steamroller, excavator on AM3+, but how much would it cost and how much profit would they get?

Wait...just by looking at the financial results, all I'm seeing are that the revenues are down and there are still net losses for AMD. That sucks for them.

AMD really, really needs to tone down the anti-Intel and Nvidia PR/Marketing campaign and focus on bringing out actual killer products that can convincingly destroy competing products to claw back some market share. I'm keeping my expectations in check but let's see if Polaris and Zen can come close to achieving that.

It's probably never a good idea to buy AMD stock j/k

I really hope this is a sign of good things to come from AMD.

A wise man once said, go all in when it hits 1 cent a share.
