As for 7790, it is my only AMD GPU. I get it to try it, but I am getting back to Nvidia sadly.

Don't forget to run the 7790 with power limit increased, some cards of the lineup have an issue where their performance is limited in some aspects without that.

It's not known to me if the issue is fixed with later generations. I'd hope it is anyhow!

Floating Point IPC could get a 40-50% increase in IPC while integer cores could gain nothing in the design. A benchmark that stresses one portion the most would see larger gains than a benchmark that stresses a portion that wasnt upgraded.

I see. Let's hope they actually perform then.

7790 is a great card... Its beating GTX 750Ti in latest games. Only problem is that if you are using 7790 1Gb version...

I don't think it's a bug as such.

The power limit does exactly what it says. It limits the power usage (wattage) of the graphics card to what AMD specifies is ok for that card.
If downclocking is necessary to achieve that wattage limit. It will do so.

Increasing the power limit will just tell the graphics card "alright chap - you can stretch your legs and use all the wattage you need to achieve the set core clock."

You can easily test this using Furmark and HWinfo/GPUz as monitoring software.

Great to see. I have always used AMD systems. When I sold my Phenom II X6 build and bought a Intel laptop, I just felt dirty the entire time I used it. Back to AMD with my FX and I sleep better at night......tongue.giftongue.giftongue.giftongue.gif

LoL, ZEN is probably coming in Q4.

Well even if AMD reach their projected +40% IPC, there still won't be any reason for intel to push the performance since AMD's new cpus would only be comparable to sandy/ivy bridge. And that is assuming the clock speeds are the same which they may or may not be.

+60% IPC and +10% clock speed would be nice.

Thus the numbers.

Gross Margin for AMD was 27% for 2015. 30% for the last quarter.

Gross Margin for Intel was 62.6% in 2015.

Intel nets more income than AMD has in revenue. Intel's revenue for the last quarter alone was 3.7 times higher than all of AMD's entire 2015. $14.9b vs $3.99b.

Hopefully you meant to say Intel.

I don't think that really matters. If AMD can land between the 3rd and 5th gen of Intel, that's going to give a lot of people who have been waiting for AMD what they want....i.e....AMD fanboys, business IF manufacturers make a cheaper AMD than Intel.(Remember a lot of places are still running XP hardware.) For everyday use Intel / AMD are the same.

It is getting old.

All their quarterly results the last 3 years have been a long line of "Net loss" while Intel and Nvidia have posted big profit numbers.
