Bought PC from friend, build is weird, what to take out? - Page 3

Seems like an OK build with a bit of room to upgrade the system.
Me personally, 8GB would never be enough on any system I use. Right now I'm at work, this system has 8gb ram. After I have one or two instances of Archicad running, one firefox session with 10-15 tabs, outlook and a couple other small programs open, i have about 100mb of ram remaining, which goes below 10mb free sometimes (and the system slows all the way down).
Don't sell the extra 8gb, wouldn't be worth the 20 bucks you get for it.

290x is a sweet card, my housemate has one, runs hot, but smashes everything @ 1080p.

could probably pick up a second 290x for cheap and crossfire, move up to 4k gaming biggrin.gif but judging by your comments in the OP i'm guessing you're not close to interested in that smile.gif

Also, you could try putting a better cooler on the cpu, see if you can o/c it a little, just for kicks.

Otherwise, it seems like an alright system, but im still a bit surprised you bought it since you dislike it this much!! Seems like a strange choice for your money, but i'll save my judgement, as it is your money after all.

Oh okay I see now, At first I was like he listed a bunch of parts many people use. I didn't see any issue. Until it was clarified you don't have a 290x in the system. The listing of parts threw us off. So yeah, I thought it was a joke or something initially.

Oh I see, I did not know about that. I've practically been on intel for a good 5 or 6 years. Last time I was on an amd cpu, the thing only lasted for about 1 and a half years, I don't remember the name of it, but it the cpu could do up to either 1.8ghz or 2.4ghz. As far as I'm aware, it wasn't a FX series cpu though.

Q2.) Sell the 8GB or not?

Keep the extra 8GB, in games like BF4, I hit 9.5gb RAM usage. That's with Windows 10 and RAPID mode running for my SSD (which uses a chunk of RAM).

But, 1600mhz is slow... given the prices of RAM, he should have got something like a 2400mhz kit... makes a real difference.

EDIT: Rage quit.

This is so strange. Why are all the posts where the OP proves himself to be a troll simply deleted? Why not delete the entire thread instead of allowing other users to be suckered into this trap?
