If a curved 35" VA 144hz 3440x1440 is coming as soon as Q2, then I'm all in!

The panel is targeted for Q2 so that monitor companies like Acer and ASUS can start development. Such a monitor will probably come out between Q4 2016 and Q2 2017, we need DP1.3 for 3440 x 1440 144 Hz anyway.

Ah, good point. Perhaps I'll keep my Acer 144hz and grab that new Asus 34" curved for single player games. Speaking of, where the heck is that thing? lol

AFAIK, neither HDMI 2.0 or DP 1.2 can do 3440x1440 @ 144 Hz. We would have to hope Pascal and Polaris comes with DP 1.3 before or at the time of this, or it would be limited at around 100 Hz.

Edit: didn't see this was pointed out already biggrin.gif

I would seriously wait unless you have no problem buying two $1000+ monitors in the span of a year (in which case go wild).

Very nice indeed, although 3000:1 is still the basic minimum, not to mention that most of those panels have heavy AG coats and high dot pitch due to screen size. They ought to be 4K at those sizes.

OLED 1440p240 may just be my next monitor. I'll be keeping what I currently have for quite a few more years! xD

Finally Samsung have a 31.5" sized panel coming in Q3 also with a whopping 8K4K (7680 x 4230) resolution and Adobe RGB colour space coverage which clearly positions it as a premium professional grade panel.

Why is everything 3000:1 these days? I remember when monitors went from like 500:1 or something to a claimed 1,000,000:1 (which was obviously bs)

For a lot of people 4k on 27"-32" isn't really usable, even though scaling has improved in windows it doesn't apply to all applications. I recently picked up a 32" 1440p monitor, it is as dense as I can go and still have legible menus in my cad software because it doesn't scale with windows scaling. 90-100 ppi is about as good as I can get and still be functional.
